2010 Free Agents

Post#1 » by Crossova21 » Mon Jun 29, 2009 10:05 pm

RealGm's list of free agents has Murph, Dunleavy, Foster, and Tinsley as restricted free agents. In my estimation that's about $115 mil (considering we don't bring all four back). I understand that some of that will go to Granger, but why aren't we being discussed among the teams that will be major players in free agency. I kno we won't get Lebron but there is A LOT of talent next year that could help us greatly.

What am I missing?

Because they're all free agents AFTER the 2010 season, thus really in the summer of 2011. LeBron's a free agent in the summer of 2010.

I do think those guys could come in handy for Sign and Trades in summer 2010. Pacers won't be able to sign any big 2010 FAs outright, but if a team has a FA, and they don't think they can keep him there, they could sign and trade him to the pacers for expiring contract (any of the 1-year-left guys like murphy, tinsley, dunleavy, ford) and a pick. We could throw in Hansbrough, or Rush, or Hibbert depending on what kind of player we were getting back positionally.

For example, let's say Nowitzki is getting really fed up with Dallas, Cuban has been unable to build anything after they had that Finals run. He wants out. 2010 comes along, he says, 'look cuban, i ain't re-signing here.' Would cuban trade nowitzki for murphy, hansbrough, and that year's pick?

Or Amare? What if the Suns front office is actually so stupid that they keep him for another year and fail? He won't want to sign there, so maybe the Suns S&T him to the pacers for Murphy's 1 year, Foster's 1 year, Brandon Rush and the pick? Who knows???

I'm pretty sure Bird has made his feelings on trading Rush or Hibbert known.

Absolutely, but let's not pretend that they are utterly untradeable. If a deal came up to get us a serious All-Star caliber player, I have no doubt we'd move one of them if the price was right.

This is why I raised the question.

As you can see Lebron and our players are free agents in 2010...is this just an error by RealGm?

Yeah, RealGM doesn't have that right.
