we cant let him walk we have to find the right deal and take it

ill take
Biedrins
Wright
Buike
Morrow
bellinelli

over all the fa's

except
wade
lebron
B.Roy

--- My point was that you could spend the money on one or several players depending on needs and availability and fit. Do you really want 5 bodies from Golden State? What are you going to do with them - who you going to buy out or waive? Does adding these guys make the team better?
Let Stat come back, prove he's healthy and still a monster in the paint. At the deadline see who offers what and then decide.
The worst that can happen is you have $18 million dollars to spend as you see fit.

it doesnt imediately make the team better but in the long run it will be good

amare leaving doesnt bring us enough under the cap to afford a max guy - we are already over the cap so trading him is our only option of getting a hig $ player back

He didn't mean this season.

--- Surely after this season, whether we buy out the Clevelands or not this year, their expirings plus Stat leaving as a FA would bring us down about $38 million form our salary right now?
Not to mention Nash at 14 million expiring.
That's a lot of the old whip-'round to have available, even if they don't spend it all and stay within the cap.

Yeah exactly. We have 47M next yr with his deal, and if he opted out we'd only have about 31M on the books.

I don't think we'd be major players next yr but it's good to have that cap for flexibility for possibly taking on star players who want out of their situation or FAs in 2011, or 2012.

I agree JV. I think you let him play this season out. He is a guy that will take all of this trade talk and step up his game big time. by then, almost every poster in this forum will flip flop like any politician and say we have to keep him! If he does well, resign him because we can give him the biggest deal.

but remember when we had a big name PF who could not win us a championship? CB34? We traded him to Houston for four players and what did that get us the next decade??? Yeah, early exits in the playoffs. Forget that and keep him unless you get a deal you can’t refuse. Screw the GSW deal, it sucks.
