Boozer not opting out does mean that the Jazz will likely miss out on Millsap, and lose Boozer next off season which is the worst case scenario.

Don't be surprised though to see the Jazz sign Millsap, go over the limit for a year and be active in trade market to try to save some money.

I have to write it again... if we lose Okur or Millsap because of Boozer, I'll be SO PISSED OFF... sorry to repeat it... it's kind of an interior need.....

With Boozer and Korver opting In then I like to see the jazz go after Collison with Milsap. Do a Milsap plus future first for Collison in a sign and trade. Then just let Okur go and look to trade for a center with Harpings expiring contract. If Harping retire the team that trades for him will not have to pay Harpings salary. Camby or Kamen could be most likly target. Maybe tade Harping and Miles for Camby or Kamen and also allow the Clipper to draft the highest pick in next years draft between the Knicks and clippers pick. The Jazz should be under luxury tax.

The difference between those picks could easily be #1 to #10. No way would I give up the Knick pick for Kaman or Camby. And to reiterate- KOC will not trade that pick and risk missing out on the possibility of a chance land a franchise transforming player unless it "knocks his socks off."

Like someone said before, it isn't like you have to pay the luxury tax from day one. The nice thing would be if Booze does stay, he becomes a nice expiring. that along with the others mentioned become a rather appealing piece of trade bait. And with several teams trying to shore up some $$$ for the big name free agents next year, I don't think the prospects are as bleak as others do. The Jazz can go into the Lux Threshold for Sap and keep him and then start working on trading Booze by the deadline.

Memo's decision is every bit as key. I think similarly to Booze, it'll be tough to find someone who is willing to give Memo much if any an increase from this years salary so why move?

All this doom and gloom when the Jazz can match any offer to keep their guys like Sap. Ever the fatalists though I guess. I don't see the Jazz working something out long term with Booze at the numbers he wants. the guy is good for 60% of the games maybe and so while he has some good skills, and is a top tier PF he has deficiencies. I m more concerned with the number of games he's missed than anything. I do think though that should he opt in, the Jazz should expect to see a mean streak in him this year since he is effectually playing for a contract. So this could easily be his best year yet. I think any more mystery injuries would destroy his possible prices, so opting in my actually help him grow a pair or at least take them back from CeCe.

Jazz guard Kyle Korver notified the team Monday afternoon that he will not opt out of his contract to become a free agent.

Korver will make $5.2 million for the upcoming season, his third with the Jazz after arriving in a December 2007 trade from Philadelphia for Gordan Giricek.

Korver averaged 9.0 points and shot 38.6 percent from three-point range last season.
His preference had been to stay in Utah, and he could revisit extension talks with the Jazz later this summer.

Not to be a stickler, but Korver's contract is actually $5,338,636 for next season.

Every source I have seen says 5.155 Mil. Where do you get 5.338 mil?

it's going to happen.
let him opt back in and ship his ass out.

If you were Booze and the market wasn't favorable for your services you would all do the same thing. Of course the Jazz fans, or many Jazz fans, want him gone, but what would all of you do in a similar situation? I don't like Booze the man anymore than the next but staying is indeed the best decision for him and you can't blame him. The jazz haven't had major expiring deals like this any time. I say don't extend Anyone sans Memo, maybe, and Sap. Then they have a lot of money coming off the books, which is great for trading for good pieces.
