Josh Childress?

Post#1 » by eyejayem » Tue Jun 30, 2009 1:29 am

I think we need a top notch wing defender so Lebron isnt killing himself at the end of the season and looks out of gas unsure of who to guard. We had Pavs show up two years ago and really helped but that was two years ago and Pavs isnt coming back. Delonte plays great defense but honestly in undersized even if he is strong enough.

Josh Childress is someone who has been mentioned on this board when he first became a restricted free agent and we targeted him. Now he is playing overseas and is still a top notch defender. His offense before he left was exactly what we want. He FG% was 57% which is super efficient for a wing. And his 3pt % was 37% which is pretty good for a wing. Plus he can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. He grabs boards, gets steals, and can pass the ball(Can play Point Forward).

Is there any way we can get this guy from ATL even if we sign CV for the MLE? I think with these two additions we would be sick and definately the team to beat. Could we possibly do a S&T w/Wally and package cash and 1st?

Mo WIlliams/ Delonte West
Childress/ Boobie
Lebron James/ Danny Green
CV/ Anderson Varajao
Shaq/ Zydrunas

Not a big fan of him, but I'd definitely choose him over Wally.

He had a player option of 2nd year for near $8MM/$10MM. Let me see, no income taxes, a house, a car & other perks; I think he is staying in Europe.

Whereas, here in the States, it will cost him about 1/2 his salary in taxes, agent fees, & union dues. Not to mention he will have to foot the bill for living expenses.
