It's not even his offense I have a problem with. He is one of the wrost defending/rebounding 7 footers I have ever seen. I saw someone say earlier he was a good P&R defender and I couldn't disagree more. The dude would screen off his own teammate on defensive rotations leaving huge lanes right under the basket. And if by some miracle he does force a miss there is no way he's getting the rebound.

I hope he can develop but his utter lack of basketball instincts makes me think that is unlikely.

Not to mention, he's got the worst hands I've ever seen. Even works than Kwame Brown, which is saying a lot!

I really couldn't judge his performance based on that and judging it on end of season isn't always accurate as some teams/players have nothing to play for.

--- Have to agree with this; FroLo got a rough deal last season and I'm sure it hindered his development. Considering how good ALvin was for Dragic, maybe a whole camp with him will help Robin as well. At any rate, we need to play him consistently and see what we have.

If Dudley has developed a consistant 3pt shot this summer that would be a nice 7 man rotation.

I'm asking this as an outsider: Is Dudley any good? Can he become a starter in NBA and what kinda role do you expect him to have in Phoenix(in terms of playing time)?

Well myself and a few others have a man crush on Dudley

He's definitely a guy most teams would love in their rotation, and the sort of guy coaches love. He's what I'd call a pest. Always defends the guy inbounding the ball after a basket and hounds the ball handler up to halfway.
He doesn't always get steals but he deflects a lot of passes by getting a hand in the lane and anticipating where the ball's going. To me he's a 6/7 man, but could definitely start a handful of games. His lack of real dribbling ability is what stops him being a 30-32min guy, but for 20-24 he'll play HARD and I seriously doubt he had many negative +/- games.

He REALLY knocked down the 3 ball in April under Gentry, specifically in the corner a la Bowen, but you can tell this is a work in progress as he air balled a few when he did miss. Good thing is Gentry played him a decent amount and he really produced when given minutes. He - like many - was rotting under Porter that's for sure.

This year, I expect him to be the first 3/4 off the bench, depending on matchups. He should get 20-25 per night and odd spot start - more mins if he can reliably make that 3 ball. He also mentioned he was going to try and get in better shape, which is good because he's hardly what I'd call a ripped 225lb, he seems closer to 235-240. But yeah, he dives for loose balls, draws charges and could be a Battier type for us
*edit - and a VERY smart player, he knows how to play and where to make the extra pass etc

Dudley is a very smart player. Quite limited physically since he isn't overly athletic, but he understands his limitations and uses his tools very well. If he could develop his 3pt shot to some consistency, he could be a starter for a small number of teams. I think we should use him the same way Portland used Batum. They started him but played him role player minutes.

There's some serious love for Duds all over the board and i think most of us were really unaware of him before the trade. Like Tastic said, the kind of player coaches and serious fans just take to their hearts - the kind of guy we always despair that the Suns don't seem to draft or acquire and teams like the Spurs always do. This time we did get one.
Just talking about Duds cheers me up about his team

Thanks a lot for the input,I appreciate it. I hope he pans out. He seems like a player that everyone would love to see succeed(hard worker-smart-knows his limitations-good locker room presence )

We gotta get Chandler. Let him be our free agent signing for 2010. Nash has to take a pay cut if he wants to win a championship. Lakers get Artest for 6 mil??? JRich has to step up his defense. Get Chandler now, otherwise rebuild.

Lakers

Kobe
Artest
Odom
Gasol
Bynum

Spurs

Parker
Manu
Jefferson
Wallace??
Duncan

Celts

Rondo
Allen
KG
Wallace???

Cavs

James
Shaq
Ariza
Williams

POR

Roy
Hedo??
Oden
LMA

Wow!!! It is getting thick.

you forget we have Dudley.

Seems almost unfair that the NBA has no idea what's coming off our bench...non-believers will be left in his wake. Women will want him and men will want to be him

:D
(my sig isn't sarcastic by the way, I think he can win MIP)
