To those visiting the Rockets board in light of Yao's injury

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Mon Jun 29, 2009 10:55 pm

I am going to go out on a limb here and speak on behalf of all and state that even with the potentially season-ending (or...gulp...career ending) injuries to Yao that WE ARE STILL NOT INTERESTED IN EDDY CURRY!!!!

We're tired of saying the same things over and over again!

Well, at least the Randolph peddlers will be here rather than our board. Sorry for your luck.

Lol Yao is twice the player Randolph will ever be. Rockets wouldn't want to trade their franchise big for a nutcase and Clippers wouldn't want to swap bigs when they have Griffin coming in. More likely two players from the Camby/Kaman/Randolph trio would be swapped for an expiring like Tracy McGrady.

Mods, could you please put some kind of note at the top for the visiting Knicks fans? Maybe just a stickie with the title "WE DON'T WANT EDDIE CURRY....maybe Stephen."

Maybe if Knicks fans explained how good Eddie Curry really is.

New title: Visitors, no Eddy Curry or Zach Randolph Trades, Please

Body: Sympathy's fine, but offering those two constantly is like pouring salted jalapeno juice into an infected gaping stomach wound while playing a track of max-amped nails on a chalkboard layered over 15,000 crying babies and a cat.

And Cheney, if you're reading; no new ideas.

You guys can have Dalembert if you want him. He's a 7 footer, he blocks shots, and he can rebound. You wouldn;t have to give up much at all to get him either.
Temp using this account until I can get Westbrook36 back.

Hey dude!

First off, welcome to the Rockets board. I'm sorry that your first thread here was locked (as the only participant I promise you that I didn't report it! ;) ), but from previous threads here and on other Rockets boards over the years I think that the subject has gotten people a bit gunshy as they tend to quickly evolve into some rather derogatory comments based on race rather than political ideaolgy. I'm guessing that it was trying to nip something in the bud before it got to be a problem. That may seem weak to you, but like I said, we've gone through it a lot as Rockets fans.

I tried to jump in on your thread quickly to point out that Yao and his family have carved out a nice little slice of life in our community. Despite all of the criticism of the Chinese Government (warranted), they have given Yao quite a bit of latitude, and they have been quick to criticize him for certain things (referring to Houston as 'home,' having a traditional western-style wedding, etc). I can't imagine what your parents went through, but please understand that many of the Yao-Chinese government threads here and in other places have gotten really ugly really quickly. Vator & King Roosk are not iron-fist mods looking to squelch discussion - you just happened into one that has led to problems.

Thanks for the welcome, man. As you can imagine, I have zero sympathy for a government like China criticizing anyone. I do want to point out that when criticizing the Chinese government, it's important to only talk about the government itself, not the people. The people should have our sympathy, considering that they are living in hell on earth. Yao seems like an extremenly patriotic man, it just boggles my mind why he would do ANYTHING for that hellhole at all. The fact that the government "mated" his parents in a way, shows exactly how perverse and evil communism is. I hope Yao comes back soon and healthy.

I'm a Blazers fan (as some of you know) and have admired Rick Adelman and the Rockets
for some time.

It would seem to me you would need a center with Yao apparently out and Deke retired
and going an entire season with Chuck Hayes at center is not going to work. I'd like
to throw out Battier for JP and I'd cross my finger if I were the Rockets that T-Mac
would come back to take up the scoring slack with the loss of Yao. Salaries match up
almost perfectly.

So you want to criticize the govt but not the people, then say something along the lines of "those commie bastards..."?

Probably the reason why Yao (and other Chinese, Cubans, Russians, etc) support their countries is because the image we get of communism in the US is a bit slanted. You know, because of that little thing called the Cold War.

Listen, it's fine for you to hate communism. I hate capitalism; it screws over far too many working people. But you know what? This isn't the place to debate politics. This is a place for basketball.

Understand why your thread was locked?

I'M Russian and I can tell you the view of communism in the U.S. is not slanted, you sympathizer! I have no pride in how many lives of their own people my country destroyed in the 20th century. And if you hate capitalism so much, go to China; where they probably won't even let you post on this forum.

Man, you REALLY wanna get a warning or suspension, huh? Like I said, this is a basketball forum. If you wanna debate politics, go elsewhere.

EDIT: I'm Russian as well, tovarish. So what?
