Re: Los Angeles Clippers Trade Proposals Thread
Do you see anything straight up without a 3rd team that makes sense for Camby or Kaman that involves
Damp or Stack as the main pieces?
Like clippers23fan mentioned, both give you room to get ready for 2010 and insurance.
Damp could get flipped for a position of need if it's necessary or you could use him as a big trading chip next summer for a S&T kind of deal. He has a lot of flexibility with his contract.

Re: Los Angeles Clippers Trade Proposals Thread
How about this:
Houston
Trades: Battier, Brooks
Receives: Ricky Rubio
Minnesota
Trades: Ricky Rubio
Receives: Kaman
Clippers
Trades: Kaman
Receives: Battier, Brooks
I would love this as a clipper fan but not sure if Minnesota accepts or if salary works. Surely a legit center to pair with jefferson would be good.
Would be great for clippers however as thornton can come off the bench and stick to scoring. Battier brings strong defence, basketball iq and a long range shooter to help space the floor. Brooks is a bit useless with mike taylor but useful as a backup.

Minnesota doesn't do it. They need much more coming this way to do it.
If Houston proposed Battier and Brooks for Rubio and it wasn't nearly enough, Kaman definitely wouldn't be enough. Maybe add Thornton and a 2nd their way...

I would be happy with that. My dislike for thornton has increased greatly as the season progressed.

I heard Marc Stein today say that he wouldn't be interested in Kaman because he was flaky and that he didn't trust him.
I've always liked Kaman. Is he flaky? Does he have a poor basketball IQ?

He's infact very flaky. He'll have phantom injuries that will cause him to miss extra time for no reason. His IQ isn't too great either. But he still is one of the better centers in the league. He's got a quality post game that not many centers have in this league anymore.

Thanks for the insight...I guess I'm most interested in his apparent lack of BBIQ. Does it show up offensively or defensively? Also wasn't he mis-diagnosed with ADD or something early in his life. Has his BBIQ improved???

His BBIQ isn't as apparent to see because he's a center and on the offensive end he's usually in the post when he has the ball. There are times when he won't make the correct "basketball" play though. Defensively, he's not great, but he's not horrible either. Don't get me wrong, when he's on, he's a top 10 center in the NBA, but he has his share of flaws in his game.
And yes, he was misdiagnosed with ADHD.

Luckily center requires the least BBIQ...I haven't ever seen it be a huge problem. I would rather he get more athletic than smarter.

With Randolph gone it would probably be prudent to trade off the combo of Kaman and Davis as well possibly to Dallas still or to Houston (major possibility).
The cap room in 2010 would be awe-inspiring.

Guys, what about Josh Childress for that TE? He's always struck me as a perfect fit next to all the scorers you have.

Yes I would love to see Childress on the team. He is a good role player to play on the baseline, keep the ball moving and play solid defence. I would much rather start him and bring thornton off the bench for scoring (something we lacked off the bench last year).
Not to mention he was up at 37% from behind the arc. I really feel thorntons lack of range really hurt the team offence last year.

Re: Los Angeles Clippers Trade Proposals Thread
What do you guys think about this deal?
Kaman/Thornton for Green/Watson/Wilkins
Then trade either Watson or Wilkins for a backup big man.
This would give us an upgrade at SF, and a big 3 for the future in Gordon, Green, and Griffin. It also frees up even more cap room next offseason.
OKC fans said they would probably do this deal if they sign either David Lee or Millsap to be their PF.

Trade scenario with LAC, MN, NO
Part 1:
New Orleans Out: Paul, Peja, Chandler
In: Thorton, Flynn, Cha 1st, Thomas, Cardinal, rights Pekovic, QRich, Madsen
Minnesota Out: Cha 1st, Pecherov, Thomas, Cardinal, Flynn, rights Rubio, rights Pekovic, Madsen
In: 1st returned from LAC, Paul, Collins, Chandler
LAC Out: Collins, Thorton, QRich, MN 1st returned
In: Peja, Rights Rubio, Pecherov
Part 2:
LAC trade TPE (from Randolph) for Antonio Daniels
Why New Orleans? They cut around 15 million salary for 2009-2010 and around 35 million in salary for 2010-2011; they also get 4 young assets in Flynn, Thorton, Cha 1st, and rights Pekovic.
Why MN? They get Paul, they also get Chandler who would complete their frontcourt
Depth
Paul/Telfair/Collins/Brown
Brewer/Ellington/Collins
Gomes/Brewer/Songalia
Jefferson/Love/Smith/Songalia
Chanlder/Jefferson
Why LAC? They supposedly really wanted Rubio, and now they get him while keeping their young studs in Griffin and Gordon.

Clippers get: Shane Battier and Chuck Hayes
Rockets get: Marcus Camby
Clippers get a veteran SF and a back up PF for Blake Griffin. With these two, they have a better chance at making a run towards a playoff spot. It also shifts Al Thornton to the bench to be their instant offense. Mike Dunleavy and injuries would be the only thing stopping the Clippers from the playoffs.
Rockets get a center for next season who's contract expires. Rocket fans love Battier and Hayes, but for the betterment of their future it may be best to deal these guys to get cap space for the rebuilding process. If the Rockets are terrible next season, they could negotiate a buy-out for Camby.

I love that deal and it makes sense for both teams. However, Battier is a winner and I think it would take an extremely generous offer to get Houston's very intellegent GM to trade him.

I posted the proposal in the Rockets forum...they wanted Thornton which is asking a lot, even though I'm not a fan of him at all. Plus they just got Ariza which is redundant.

I like Battier enough to add Thornton to that deal. Battier would mesh amazingly well with EJ and Blake. I would love such a deal.
