Sign/Trade Millsap for what???

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Mon Jun 29, 2009 7:37 pm

Assuming Jazz decide 10 mil too much for Millsap especially if long term deal of 5 years+, what can Jazz get in sign and trade?

Detroit: Prince? (moving Ak-47 to PF)
Okla: No one worth getting (maybe #1 pick but I doubt Okla does that)
Suns: Millsap, Harpring, and New York #1 for Amare (risky for Jazz)
Bobcats: gerald wallace (ok but he makes alot)
GSW: Maggette (he is over paid)

None of deals that great for Jazz. Prince probably makes most financial sense as only has 2 years left on deal and he helps our defense but scoring maybe an issue. Jazz would have limited post up presence.

PG Williams Price Maynor
SG Brewer Korver Miles
SF Prince Miles Harpring
PF Ak-47 Kosta
C Memo Kosta Fess

Team wins 50-55 games but weak shooting probably kills them in playoffs.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I would do Millsap for Maggette (GS could use the muscle) or Millsap, Miles and a future dp for Hedo. Orlando will want more though, but Millsap would fit perfectly on that team.

IMO, it would take more than Maggette to get Millsap, especially when Golden State was willing to give up Maggs and Crawford for AK.

Why is everyone so obsessed with Maggette and his horrible contract? Why do we need another athletic wing who can't shoot threes?

The guy can score, get to the free throw line, and is tough.

I think that Boozer is more likely to S&T. Sounds like Milsap is the guy when KOC was talking earlier.

I like this idea, Hedo would be a great addition on our team, he can hit the 3, is clutch and plays pretty good defense.

Wait.. so the Jazz won't spend $10M on an up-and-coming hard-working power forward that they love but they will spend the same amount (and trade CJ Miles) for a three-point-shooting ball-hog whose numbers have been inflated by playing alongside a dominant big man? Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

Hedo's a decent player, but he's VERY overrated right now due to playoff exposure.

Yeah...

I am not saying I agree with it but it does sound like that is the case. It sounds like the Jazz and Det would rather have Milsap at $10mil instead of Boozer at $14~15mil a year.

You could make the same case for Millsap.

I would love to see Prince here in Utah. We need someone with Championship experience badly. Anything that involves the NY pick is NO! The NY pick is way to valuable to give up for anything IMO. I think either Wallace or Prince would be your best options, maybe package some other players for a 2-3 player swap with either the Pistons or Bobcats.

The NY pick is complete placebo. That pick could wind up being 16-20 if the Knicks make the playoffs next year, and with signs of them resigning David Lee, landing Ricky Rubio to run D'Antoni's offense, this is not completely unthinkable. Even if the Knicks are the worst team in league next year, we could still wind up not getting the top pick. It almost never happens that the winning lottery team had the worst record. On top of that, what players right now hold any interest at all for next years draft? I can't think of any.

Yes, the pick could wind up being gold, it could also wind up being crap. If you have a chance to better your team this year by packaging that pick, I say do it.

I think I would put money that the pick is going to be top 10. The Jazz have had one top ten pick in the last 20 years or so.

The only way I trade it is to lube the chains of a great trade, of which hasn't been mentioned in this thread.

New York making the playoffs with Lee and Nate? They are not getting Rubio and even if they did they would have to probably give up both Lee and Nate to get him or at the least Lee. Plus it sounds like Lee and Nate don't even want to stay in NY. Who in the East is going to drop out of the playoffs with the Knicks taking their place? No way, if any of those teams drop which they probably wont, the Bobcats are going to take the spot or Washington. No way the Knicks make the playoffs next year unless there is a miracle in the East.

I like the Millsap and Fress for Collison trade. The Jazz would only have to trade Harpings contract to be under luxury tax and still add a couple of cheap Sf-sg type players . Maybe sign Noel and Nichaels from CBA .Okur signs contract for 5 years 40 million staring at 7 million. Okur is 30 so I don't think another team will offer him more.

I don't see why we would want to trade for Collison when we already have Millsap.
