Channing Frye UFA

Post#1 » by WTFsunsFTW » Tue Jun 30, 2009 5:56 am

http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazer ... g_for.html

Channing Frye's two-year stint with the Trail Blazers officially ended Monday when general manager Kevin Pritchard said the team has decided not to make a qualifying offer to the 26-year-old free agent power forward.

The move allows Frye to become an unrestricted free agent, and prevents the Blazers from having the right to match an offer from another team. The Blazers had until midnight on Tuesday to make a $4.6 million qualifying offer to Frye, who made $3.1 million last season.

He can hit the 17 footer, and is a serviceable backup imo. I wonder if SarvKerr will go after the wildcat? He was one of the pieces in the trade Shaq rejected.

Fellow wildcats are always welcome (except the one in office), i'd like him as a back-up, he's cheap and you know what ur getting

IMO he is one of the few wildcats with potential.. terry and Gilbert being the others. if he's cheap then i say why not... he really does have potential and anyone with potential along side with nash can really improve.

His mom comes into my work all the time, she is the sweetest lady ever, last time she came in he did too. He is a really cool dude, a class act, unlike other players who come into my work....

*cough* Amare *cough*

I wouldn't mind signing the kid, he definitely has the potential to be great, just needs the opportunity, which is what Gentry loves to do.

bro im a senior at UA believe me i got crazy wildcat pride... but not too many wildcats have been AWESOME... gilbert is but he's been injury prone. Walton is a BUST and Chase will be a BUST havent seen Hill yet so cant say about him. i know most picks but how many of those have been worth it?

You're calling Walton a bust? He was a second round pick who played nearly 20 minutes a game for a championship team. How can Budinger even be a bust as a second rounder? Would you call Salim a "bust" too?

In order to be a bust, there have to be much higher expectations than any of those players have had.

they all had potential that wasnt ever really given a chance. Gilbert was a 2nd rounder who was actually given the chance to show his potential and look how important he is to a team, compared to that IMO i repeat... IN MY OPINION the others are busts yes.

30 outta 30 picks wont be all-stars, its all about the 'publicity' for recruits and it seems to be working this year quite well... Still wish the Suns grabbed Iggy, damn

You mistake "put up good number" with "really improve". No, they won't improve to a point that they could create any kind of offense by themselves to save the team, come playoff times when Nash gets shut out. :(

Walton might be a bust but it doesn't hurt seein' him win a ring or Bibby and Iggy leadin' their teams to the playoffs or Gil getting 120 mil... Watchout for Salim with the Bucks, when healthy he fills it up, you know all about that

Frye sucks; so he would fit right in. He can't play defense, focuses on offense yet is just as inconsistent as any other Suns player, and again, he sucks.

AFter his rook season, he has been a bust. Im fine with him as a backup, but he is soft, not a good rebounder or defender. He has a good mid range shot, so, if they get him, oh well.
