How much more in a salary does House and his agent believe he deserves? He's thirty-one... Come on, he's a specialist. A specialist tends to be a one dimensional player, these kinds of players are replaceable. Please House, do Boston a favor and promptly opt out of your contract today. What you'll make next season for Boston is more than enough already for the little you offer overall as a basketball player on this team.

House’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, said: “We’re kicking some things back and forth. We just haven’t made a decision on it yet.”

Bartelstein recently told the Herald that House wants to remain in Green, but the guard has “outperformed his contract.”

Damn, I'm an Eddie House guy myself and that quote bothers me. I don't want the C's paying him anymore than what his player option would have been.

C'mon, what do you expect his agent to say?

sadly, i don't think Eddie will opt out. he's going to see the writing. guys like Sheed and Marion are going to get the MLE. what does that mean for guys like House?

Basically, House's agent is trying to gauge the interest from other teams in House. He wants to see if he can secure an offer that exceeds the $2.8M that his client will make next season for the Celtics. The problem is, if House decides to take the gamble and opt out today. He'll risk having his decision backfire due to his market drying up or teams changing their minds on him if there was even any overwhelming interest in him to begin with. But then, which general managers are contemplating the idea of signing an aging, undersized off guard to a $3M or slightly more a year contract? I'll say none of them.

If House is under contract this season, I expect for him to be traded if a contract extension isn't in Ainge's plans for him. I mean you've some kind of nerve, to say he has, "outperformed his contract." How does such a comment not irk Ainge? It would me.

Yeah that's true. Makes sense anyway. I hope that turns out to be the case.

As said, if House won't opt out... Then he better be prepared to see himself traded sooner than later. I don't see the point of keeping him around when he supposedly isn't in your longterm plans, and you've just drafted a potential Vinnie Johnson type of a player in Lester Hudson. A player who could possibly replace House's role if he pans out next season.

Maybe he'll opt out and ask for the same contract: a 2 year, $5 million dollar deal that provides him with more security in terms of years and overall $$.

House's agent is suggesting he wants more, not less for his client. That is, a two-year contract at $2.5M a year is less than his 2009-2010 salary of $2.8M. Why make that comment if you're his agent if more money isn't an issue? Why consider opting out to test free agency? Because it's about money, making more of it.
