Novak is the key piece out of this group.

Good stuff, although it sucks to see Skinner go. He should have gotten some more playing time last season.

There's no room for him now though with the logjam at the 4 and 5 spots. Don't want him taking DJ's PT either.

Hope we give Novak a good deal and not overpay him

It would be heaven sent if Novak could step in and control the role as primry back-up at SF.

I'd even be okay with starting Novak if we could trade Thornton away, but that will never happen. If we were a run 'n gun team, Novak would be the absolute perfect SF.

However, I'm just dreaming. :D

Good news on Novak and Skinner not picking up, but bad news but obvious news with R. Davis. Oh well. As far as Novak starting, the guy isn't a defender and a primary speciality outside shooter and is no starter. He shouldn't be getting that much money for other teams offered to him and if he does then let him go. I'd prefer to keep his outside threat, but only for the right price.

I'm so glad to hear that Skinner and Acker won't be returning. Time for us to look for more depth @ the 1/3 position and lock up Novak.

I think it was that said that Acker would be joining some other team's SL roster a couple of weeks ago, so definitely not surprising on his end. I kind of assumed Skinner would be leaving. He may end up making less elsewhere (since he'll likely be beginning a new minimum deal), but maybe with a better opportunity to play and win. I will miss his defense, rebounding and blocks, but this allows for Griffin and DJ to play more minutes. I'm glad the team extended the QO to Novak. We're good as long as another team doesn't come in and overpay him.

Yeah I also heard that he would be playing for the Knicks' summer league team.

I don't mind Skinner leaving, we have too many big men so he wouldn't get an PT this year. If we didn't have so many I would like it if he came back. Good luck to you Skinner.

I'm glad we made the offer to Novak. A shooter of his caliber can always be used, and hopefully it was for cheap. Just look at Jason Kapono. The Raptors overpaid for him, and all they got was a one dimensional player, who didn't even abuse his talent, which is 3pt shooting. Novak is almost right up there with him, statwise, but at a fraction of the price.

Last year's stats:

Kapono:

MIN / FGM FGA FG% / 3FGM 3FGA 3FG% / PPG
22:53 /3.3 7.6 43.2 / 1.2 2.9 42.8 / 8.2

Novak:

16:23 /2.5 5.6 44.4 / 1.7 4.0 41.6 / 6.9

Good move.

Clippers fans can Novak play any PF at all? Seems like you guys like him at SF, but on 82games it says he played mostly at PF.

I've only seen him play a handful of times.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

I guess he can in certain situations, but all the guy can do is shoot(extremely well). So he's a big liability on defense, and does nothing but spread the floor on offense.

I've always thought of him as a SF, if we're playing a small line up he goes to the 4 spot. I think when we played him it was at SF.

I think he's someone the Cavs should look at. It's unfortunate for them he's restricted.
