Jason Kidd helps knicks?

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Tue Jun 30, 2009 8:51 pm

Knicks might sign Jason Kidd to a 1 year deal supposedly to make them better. Are you kidding me? He is garbage!!! I hope they sign him and take time away from Nate Robdinson or trade Nate Robinson or let him go in free agency bc Kidd < Nate Robinson.

Kidd to NYK improves Jazz #1 pick next year as NYK lose more games with him.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Does nothing drastic for them unless they put some pieces around him. You think Kidd could actually play all season at that pace and not run out of gas? I rather not see him land in NY but if he does I'm not going to freak out.

Of course he helps them. No brainer. Will he sign for 1 year? I doubt it. Will he sign in NY? I doubt it. Probably just using them as leverage against Dallas.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Knicks have little incentive to lose next year since we have their pick. I doubt D'Antoni will want to keep losing at the rate they have. If they can return their best players (including a healthy Gallinari) and add some one-year mercenaries like Kidd it does not bode well for the Jazz.

I think the motivation behind this is that the Knicks are confident they can land Rubio. Jason Kidd would be a perfect mentor for Rubio. If the Knicks are able to get a good young PG like that rolling, who's to say that they can't land a Bosh/Wade/James next year and make them very formidable. It's definitely possible, and the market size for NYC will just blow up whichever player shows up there, making them more money in other areas (commercials, endorsements, etc).

I'm a little surprised NY hasn't tried to do a sign and trade with Lee and Nate for Nash. There is your perfect mentor for Rubio although Kidd would be great also.

I wonder how much this really helps them next year. How much gas does he have left in the tank?

If he signs a one year deal it should be with a team like Cleveland who has a shot.

As some have suggested, I think it's very likely this is just leverage by Kidd.
