Summer League Roster available

We have a good team coming in. I like Byars, Sims, Johnson, Lyons. We have a pretty good summer league team. I thought Earl Calloway was going to be in it but I guess not. Undefeated none the less.

When does Summer League start and is it still on Orlando Magic website?

I liked Byars when he came out. Wasn't he projected as a first round pick?

Looks like we have a good chance of winning Summer League. That big rotation is nasty with Hibbert, Hansbrough, McRoberts, and Sims.

Hmm... would've liked to see Calloway with another shot. Based on our history of picking up guys that played on summer league, I'd like to see us sign Courtney Sims, Aaron Jackson, and maybe Derrick Byars (if Graham isn't re-signed) for our final 3 spots (assuming Jack & McBob are retained).

What do you guys think of Leo Lyons.
He is 6'9 PF. Could he play some SF?
Would the pacers consider signing him?

Calloway landed a plush two year contract with Khimki in Russia about two weeks ago. He's doing all right for himself.

Cool - good for him I guess. I still think he's probably good enough to crack an NBA roster. But we did just have a huge influx of PGs into the league.

Byars is an interesting prospect who could be a serviceable player at the wing position. It'll be a good test between him and Graham for a spot on the team.

The SL roster/info should be up later this week or next week. We'll be playing in the Orlando SL which begins July 6th and runs through July 10th.

Wait... we'll have some competition. The Nets and Sixers have a combined team... Jrue Holiday, Terrence Williams, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Mareese Speights... Dionte Christmas off the bench.

"connecting on a ridiculous 49% of his 3-point attempts this season, on over 5 attempts per game. He is excellent with his feet set, and can get his shot off against most defenders relatively easily thanks to his terrific size. He’s also pretty effective pulling up off the dribble, as well as posting up and fading away for a turnaround jumper. Off the ball, he is extremely smart finding open spaces from which to cut to the basket and get easy looks at the rim. "

Quoting draftexpress.

49% on threes! Byars looks like he may fit in great with the Pacers.
Also it says he is defensively fundamental. Hopefully he has a good SL showing and can get a spot.
I would agree it can potentially come down between Graham and him.

I thought both Byars and Morris Almond would have made more of a contribution in the league than they have so far. I loved Byars size at two guard when he played at Vandy.

Even if Graham comes back, I think Byars still has a decent shot. Essentially right now, we have Dunleavy as the only other wing behind Granger and Rush.

Leo could fill a role as a 14th man, eventually turning into a high energy role-player.

Lyons just didn't play like a power forward at Missouri. He was more of a perimeter-oriented finesse player.

I think his NBA chances hinge on playing small forward. He has the midrange shot, and he handles the ball pretty well for someone his size. He'd have to work on his defense though.

IMO he has the talent to play in the NBA, if he can figure out how to play up to his natural abilities. As a Missouri fan, I'm hoping he makes it in the league.

Does anyone else really hope Tyler Hansbrough proves people wrong and becomes a good PF in the league? I was just as disappointed as the next person with the pick, but I do think he can be a good player in the league. I am really hoping we get another Brandon Rush out of this.

Uh, I hope to God that others do.

I always want Pacers players to "become a good [insert position here] in this league". That means the team is better. Honestly, if you don't want them to be a good player, you're wishing a lack of success on the franchise. That's just odd. I'm not saying it doesn't make you a fan, but rather, it's just odd.

I really, really hope Hansbrough is better than Larry Bird. Any Pacers fan should.
