Re: FA list
McDyess might be 30 something and injured a while back, but he put up HUGE rebounding numbers for Pistons when needed, he has pretty much settled for the "rebounding" and "defense" role for Pistons. He can be Suns' new Kurt Thomas.... I have a feeling Spurs will target him and Rasheed Wallace.
C: Wallace/McDyess/Duncan

F: Jefferson/Iduka/
G: Mason/Ginobili/Hil

Im interested in Wilcox and Frye, not interested in McD and not so much in Hill.
Dice was an absolute beast last year - terrifying. I'm not joking - i thought he would be all but done but not so you;d notice

Re: FA list
lets reduce the list to 5 guys:
1. Sheed
2. Artest
3. Hedo
4. Odom
5. Ariza
Odom and Hedo would do wonders with our run-n-gun system. Artest, Sheed, Ariza are defense oriented.

Hedo isn't worth anything like what someone is going to pay him

Re: FA list
I may be wrong, but i think after a buyout, the full salary counts towards the cap, but not the tax.
What this means is that, if we buy out big ben and pavlovic, their full contracts are still included in our cap figure (likely giving us only the mle, lle and vet mins to sign players).
However, when calculating the tax, the total salaries are not included in the total payroll. Say the lux tax is at 70 mill, if big ben is at 14 mill and pavs at 5 mill, our total payroll, including their salaries, can be at 89 mill without lux tax penalty. Mind you, we would have needed to pay 11+ mill in buyouts for nonactive players so you have to take that into account also.
But that's just off the top of my head, i could be wrong.

Re: FA list
Personally i'd like to get a defensive minded combo guard ala hinrich that can both start alongside Nash, and then spell him when barbs comes on. I think neither the Nash-Rich nor the Nash-Barbs backcourts offer enough D to be able to adequately pressure the quality backcourts of the league, and until they get rectified we'll be disadvantaged in that respect.
Plus, it keeps barbs as a spark, and gives us depth until dragic is ready to start absorbing Nashs minutes.
I'd also like to nab McDyess with the mle, and maybe brad miller in a hinrich trade (jrich plus wallace?)
Nash- hinrich-dragic
Hinrich-barbosa-tucker
Hill-dudley-clark
Stoudemire-amundson
McDyess-miller-lopez

Re: FA list
The only thing we should really be looking for in free agency is a post-defender and someone who can defender slashing wing players/PGs.
Unless we make a serious cap-clearing trade I don't think we are gonna get anyone near the MLE so guys like QRoss or maybe Udoka. Hill is clearly top of the agenda if he doesn't want more then 2.5m.
Haven't followed his career closely at all but I remember the Suns brass being all over Carney. Wouldn't surprise me if he's a cheapy they decide to bring along. Dunno what kind of injuries he has suffered but the guy could jump out of the gym when drafted. Still only 25.
Bogans could be considered altho I don't like him.
I honestly don't know which post defender we should go with. I remember at one stage Washington fans completely boofing Kwame for his post-defense, most LA fans tended to agree. Would we really touch him tho? I dunno, if everyone else is put off him I might consider him on a cheap contract. Sure the guy's dumb as a stump but he still has ridiculously good size and movement for someone that big.
Dice would be nice but I think he will look at the place that gives him the most money (remember when he said he would stick around here for less last time he was a FA?).
I would even gamble on Sheed at this point, that's how desperate I am but again I think he'll go somewhere that's closer to winning a ring.
Gortat could be one big who has the potential to be a good post-defender that might be had for cheap. He's a restricted but I think Magic are so focused on their starters they might be willing to let him slip if a half-MLE offer comes in for him. Looks great on the PnR.
I hope we resist the urge to go for a shooting PF with no D like Hermann, Frye or Villa unless we can get them very cheap (ie. not using any of our MLE). I'd rather see Clark develop next year then putting players in front of him. At least he has the potential to defend.

Don't know about you guys, but I see a lot in Marquis. If we could get something worthwhile for JRich, we'd have a new starting SG on the cheap who can slash and defend.

Re: FA list
^agreed. I have always liked him since he had that great stretch in DAL way back
Surprised they didn't keep him, though they have Rush and Jack can play some two guard
Daniels is the perfect guy for a championship team looking for a good quality SG/SF who can play some PG
Hello LAL, BOS and SA...

Re: FA list
well his first name is like my last name with O on the end. So he has that going for him
Great athlete, but I question how he's bounced around so much especially on teams that need size. I'd rather go for Pops Mensah-Bosu if we're going for a flat out athletic SF/PF/C type. Impressive offensive rebounder and he gets UP

Shares a first name with the great James Brown trumpeter and bandleader Maceo Parker. so that's cool but yeah, prefer Pops.
