The nets are pursuing Brandon bass which averages 8 points and 5 rebounds but who is the other free agent they will get. Rod thorn said that we would get 2 restricted free agents and why would we get bass while we have a million power fowards. Half of are team is based on power forwards. Yi Jianlian, swat, Eduardo Najera, Josh Boone. Brandon ass would be a good player for our team. But we have so many pf.

I was all for Bass a few months ago, but things have changed.

I'd still be OK with us getting Bass, but I would prefer we get rid of Boone and maybe Sean Williams if that's the case and I won't be necessarily thrilled.

With the likely hood we're pretty bad, I don't really want to bring in any player that will help bump us up to late lottery mediocre unless they are a can't miss/can't pass em by player.
Plus it takes minutes away from Yi's hopeful development and Sean Williams last stand.

I don't love this move, although I do still feel Bass could be a hell of a player that would be a possible steal if he's signed for a MLE contract and no matter who emerges as our guy at PF or who we draft, Bass becomes a hell of a backup.

I don't see Bass coming here though. He probably won't and shouldn't get a huge deal, but I could see a little over the MLE, so if he settles for the MLE I would think he wants a guaranteed starting gig, or at least big minutes on a true, real deal contender.

I say Millsap will demand starting minutes. Bass can play the 3 and 4 at times and would be a great 6 man off the bench for us to some physical play.

However, I'm intrigued because we not have 15 players under contract. I can see us potentially trying to package 2 expirings into 1 through a trade to free up a roster spot or something. I know Alston isn't happy with the trade though either, so I wonder if we intend on buying him out.

Either way, the month of July won't be WILD for us, but it'll give us an idea of where we're heading for this season I think.

I was all for a moose like Bass or Milsap, but like VC4Prez said, dont want to mess with the finance and I dont want to pay a guy $5+mill to have to share PT with 5 other guys. If we waive or trade boone, najera or SWill, then I can agree with going after these guys.

He's one of the most sought out players. We have no chance unless we're the team that overpays him which we won't be.

You're only allowed 15 players on a roster. The Nets have 15 guaranteed contracts.

Has there been any official word of us even having interest in any player(s), let alone actually pursuing any?
If there has, it means a trade is immenent, no matter small, such as just to clear a roster spot.

BTW, Millsap will likely get between 8 to 10 mill a year to start and he's restricted.

Is thorn interested in kidd, played golf on saturday with hi

Post#14 » by nets3409 » Wed Jul 1, 2009 6:48 pm

I don't think nets are interested with Kidd but it makes you think that they are. Number one he evaluated Jason Kidd's contract on Wednesday then this is really weird. Rod thorn played golf with Jason Kidd on Saturday with him and I don't know how he lives all the way in Texas now since he is on the mavs and comes to new jersey just to play a game of golf with rod thorn? I do not think Nets would get him cause we have so many pgs but out of no where he comes to play golf in new jersey all the way from Texas. Either he is kinda interested or there was some kind of drug deal going on. Look at rod thorn he has dull red eyes and he is all red.

Kidd I know lives in NJ or NYC in the summer. Rod and Kidd has an interested relationship but I think they're still good friends. Also, an article came out today where Thorn said he's not pursuing Kidd in anyway. They were just catching up. I'm fairly certain Rod legally can't talk to Kidd during the season so they probably get together once in a blue moon. I think the reason Thorn still has a career is because he pulled the Kidd deal. They have a mutual respect for one another. Thorn got Kidd to his first finals and Kidd saved Thorns job.

You're looking too much into this.

p.s. Dammit I totally had a good response to the thread that just got locked. It was a hypothetical phone call between Donnie Walsh and Kidd's agent to work around the "player tampering" issue to set up a meeting for Wednesday morning before Donnie was legally allowed to contact a player.

Thorn is the man.

He is straight up Business. I think he and Kidd have a mutual respect. Thorn did the best he could to get a winning team around Kidd. He even took his buddy, F'en Mourning. Then he still found a way to get Kidd on Dallas.

Kidd could be an ass, but if you had issues with a team would you play golf with the President. Kidd didnt have to waste his time with that.

His kids still live in NJ dont they?

And he was in town to talk to the Nix as well right? So?

He played golf with a former boss. Big whoop.

My ideal move would be to see Kidd go to Boston. But that wont happen.

Players nets can get in 2010

Post#18 » by nets3409 » Fri Jul 3, 2009 4:24 am

In 2010 I guaranteed no BS on this nets will get Lebron James. I can give you 4 reasons why. Jay-z and him are best friends and go clubbing on the weekends in new york. devin harris and lebron would be the best match up of two players since kobe and shaq back in the day. Then we have all this god dam money even since we got rid of vince giving us well over 30 million dollars. But most of all he wants to win a championship and in this free agency we could get either 1 of 2 dominate players which i think nets should pick up as a second free agent.Either Amare stodimire or joe johnson. But i think joe johnson would be a good secondary free agent for the nets cause are lineup would be.

devin harris
joe johnson WE GOT ARE BIG 3 RIGHT THERE or BIG 4 if including brook
courtney lee
lebron james
brook lopez

And if we did not get lebron I would say we should get Dwayne wade.
