Rasheed Wallace
At this point, assuming we keep Dahntay, Anderson, and Kleiza, could Rasheed put us over the top? Sign for the MLE = championship. Too much bench depth at every position..

Re: Rasheed Wallace
Can't sign him for the full MLE if we are resigning Andersen. Since he only signed a one year deal last year, we don't have his bird rights, so we have to use the MLE to sign him. I don't see how we can sign both Rasheed and Andersen with the MLE. Our best chance to get him would be if detroit does a sign and trade with us and we use the TPE to complete the trade.
I personaly think Rasheed would be a great fit. Good rebounder, good defender, can spread the floor, has played with Billups before. I know he isn't the player he was a few years ago, and people have been calling him lazy, but I think a change of scenery could motivate him for a year or two. I wouldn't sign him for the 8 mil he is asking, but i think 8 million for two years would probably be a worthwhile investment.

I agree 100%.
MLE for Bird, TPE for Sheed.....whatever else, who really cares. If those two things happened, i'd cream my pants. And it's not like it's an impossible scenario either. I'd imagine we'd be one of the few teams Wallace would really consider going to...and on top of that, we're the only one of those teams that can actually give him the money that he is looking for(Cleveland, San Antonio, Orlando, etc can only offer the MLE at most, I believe).
After that, my other dream would be to sign a guy like Anthony Parker for the LLE, to split time with J.R. at the two(and even the three). I wouldn't mind having a guy like him play Jones' role. He's a good defender, can shoot the **** out of the ball, and also isn't crazy.
I don't care if LK comes back or not.....we always have Balkman waiting right there, who I much prefer anyway.
Imagine this...
Billups/Lawson
Parker/Smith
Melo/Balkman
Martin/Sheed
Nenê/Bird
That's a great starting 5, and probably the best bench in the league. Just spend the money!

From what i've read from the PIstons board... they hated Sheed like we hate AC. That's not a good thing.

ive been saying for a while that the nuggets should pursue sheed. (gk will like him cause he is a carolina guy) i really think he becomes motivated with the opportunity to win another title in denver. Sheed is one of those type of players like a vince carter who when in the right situation can be motivated and play up to his potential.

We're just tired of his lackluster attitude.
Its very possible if he goes to a contending situation (particularly one where his buddy Chauncey already resides) that he could be motivated just like he was when he first landed in Detroit.
I never really thought of Denver as a location for him, but if you have the money to spare it could be a decent fit.
Not sure I'd let Anderson walk to get him though if I'm Denver. He does a lot of little things for you guys and is very popular. I'd be surprised to see him anywhere else next season.

Re: Rasheed Wallace
I think AC is our best player at contesting shots. What he did with Kobe Bryant was pretty remarkable for a guy his size... it usually resulted in a tough shot for Kobe although he made most of them anyway. But Kobe kills, we can't blame AC for being burned by Kobe. Everyone is burned by Kobe. I remember someone said AC is one of the best in this L at contesting shots... if you check the tapes, there's quite a truth to that. Had some tapes back from regular season, and he did a fine job on Wade (when D Vitale announced the game)...
That said, Karl gave him too many minutes... that's the only problem. Our problem is not AC, I wouldn't think he "didn't live up to his contract"... he played hard every single possession.
I'm all for AC to come back, I'm convinced Karl's gayness for UNC will give Ty a lot of minutes... if this makes AC a third PG, I'm all for it.
And I'd like to think we have the edge among all teams to resign Birdman... this is the place where he turned not only his career, but life around. If Denver makes the same offer to Bird as the highest bidder, no doubt in my mind he'll choose us. If we offer $1-2 mil less there's good chance still he'll sign with us anyway. But if we offer $4 mil per, and some team thinks he's a DPOY and offers $8-9 mil, then that's when we should start getting worried.

Just don't think Sheed fits in the Nuggets style.

Wiretap...
Rasheed Wallace’s camp was expecting calls early Wednesday from the Celtics, Cavaliers, and Spurs, among others, including Denver.
The Nuggets also have long coveted Wallace, who nearly went to Denver before the team acquired Kenyon Martin in 2004. But according to a person familiar with the discussions, the Nuggets were meeting with Portland restricted free agent Channing Frye as the clock struck midnight ET. Nobody does more with less than the Nuggets, who would benefit from Frye’s pick-and-pop ability without breaking the bank.
I like Channing Frye a lot!

Re: Rasheed Wallace
I really don't like Channing Frye at all but Denver does need another back up big man. Birdman HAS to be resigned, and I think he will. Denver still has Balkman who can play some minutes at the four. Adding Frye would be more insurance, since we know there is no way that Martin and Nene get through another season healthy. And Frye could come cheap. Rasheed is a dream come true but I don't see Denver spending the money.
