I hate Heisley as the owner of the Grizz.

Wojnarowski will be on Geoff and Gary in 5 minutes or so if anyone local is interested in listening.

Maybe Heisley felt it would cost too much to get Lee and he's doing his usual clinging to the purse strings routine. Glen Davis will be half the price as long as they can manage to convince Boston not to match, which is tricky. Remember my other post where I said the worst case scenario is where they tie up a player with an offer only to watch other teams sign players all around them and then have the team who has matching rights to the player the Grizzlies sign match, leaving Memphis out in the cold.

Or maybe that is the plan. Miss out on the power forwards, then say that it wasn't their fault since they tried, all the while wanting it to play out this way until next years draft when they can get one of the many power forward prospects on the cheap.

Adrian just said on the radio that Heisley could have shot it down because it seemed like something that he would do, but I don't really believe it. It just doesn't make sense. We've expressed a ton of interest in Lee for over a year now. Why would Heisley just suddenly say no to it?

Lee and Thabeet are just way too similar offensively, not a good move IMO.

Memphis should trade for Boozer. Just my two cents.

I just don't buy it. I mean, Heisley was ready to trade the 5th pick and Brian Cardinal for Lee last year. What, now he doesn't want him without giving up any assets? I don't (want to) buy that.

I was just thinking about this.

Grizzlies can take Boozer off of Utah's hands while they can retain Paul Millsap.

Grizzlies' owner Michael Heisley has apparently not given GM Chris Wallace his approval for the team to make a lucrative offer to David Lee.

Lee is a restricted free-agent but the Knicks may not match a contract at or near $10 million per season.

smh...

I am not really buying it just yet. He has to know that the backlash would be too great to not make a move. The only way it is currently true is if there is a likely trade that is imminent. (i.e. Randolph)

Although it wasn't until everyone was kicking and screaming last year that they finally offered a deal to Josh Smith.

The Grizz can't continue to make dumb moves and expect the fans to tolerate this nonsense.

They didn't re-sign Boozer, he just opted to stay within his current contract.

He's like any other expiring contract. A good player at that.

So what you're suggesting is that they make some sort of trade to get Boozer so the Jazz free up money to match any offers for Milsap?

Now that sounds like a pretty good move to me. But there are some serious factors involved. Since Milsap is a free agent, unless Utah got him signed quickly it could leave Memphis sitting there waiting for the situation to play out since the Jazz probably wouldn't trade Boozer until they had Milsap signed, sealed, and delivered. In the meantime other free agents are being snapped up. Just the time playing the waiting game could end up costing them someone they might like.

But let's play this out. The Grizzlies contact Utah about Boozer so the Jazz do what it takes to re-sign Milsap. Memphis sits on their hands and let's the likes of Lee(maybe to OKC), Villineuva(rumored to Detroit), Davis(Boston could still match but Rasheed Wallace supposedly might be a candidate for them), Bass(it's believed his agent is looking at the MLE so they have a few teams they can choose), Powe(from my understanding Boston is gambling that nobdy else will offer him a contract since his return from knee surgery has spoiled things), Odom(likely back to LA), Varejao(kind of a wildcard since it's hard to say if he'll get the offer he wants), Anderson( I think Denver brings him back) sign wherever.

Now they talk to Utah about trading for Boozer. The Jazz could agree to talk about it. Or they could go into next season with the same team as this past season knowing they only have to pay for Boozer for one year and maybe he's a good asset in a sign and trade situation next summer, like Chris Bosh. It's a big gamble for Memphis.

But there are obviously other options such as trading Gasol for a player on the level of Tyrus Thomas for instance. We've talked about Atlanta's need for a center. But they played Horford there last season so I don't know what incentive they have to swap Horford for Gasol unless the Grizzlies gave them big incentive.

But for arguement's sake let's say Memphis tried to convince Utah that with Milsap being re-signed longterm and high priced it makes no sense for them to keep Boozer. Would the same offer that was made for Zach Randolph be about right for Boozer? Both are about the same production wise. And I would take the huge one year deal over the very large multiyear one of Randolph, especially when next years draft possibly holds at least six or seven really highend power forwards.

If that bum Heisley won't open ups his wallet for a long term solution at PF, then Boozer would be the best solution.

I want no parts of that ball hog ZBo.
