Sekou Smith: I have a feeling

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Wed Jul 1, 2009 4:47 pm

I have a feeling that the Hawks’ pursuit of the likes of Rasheed Wallace, Antonio McDyess and Marcin Gortat, all big men my sources tell me the Hawks will have made contact with by the time you finish breakfast. Link

Sekou is slowly developing into another AJC writer/reporter.

"My sources" tell me will probably end up with someone like Chris Wilcox once we get the door closed on us after we contact Sekou's list.

Is that a good or a bad thing?

I think the Hawks have a legit shot at McDyess, but I wouldn't be disappointed with Wilcox. The Hawks need a veteran defensive rebounder and either of those two players should work for less than the MLE.

Sekou Smith is a fan with (a little) inside information, which just about makes him perfect for Hawks fans. A guy with more inside info would be sworn to secrecy.

Looking at big men is a great thing to hear. We have many needs down low. Getting a defensive-rebounding-shot-blocking center to - at least - back up Horford would be wonderful. Getting a Wallace or McDyess to take the minutes we've been giving Zaza and Solomon Jones would be just as great.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

I'd rather have Wilcox over Rasheed. Sheed is a worse rebounder than Josh Smith and shoots more jumpshots than Mike Bibby.

I disagree. With Rasheed we would have three shot blockers and not many teams have that. More positives compared to the negatives with Rasheed, and with him we know exactly what to expect. With Chris Wilcox we'll be more limited, but obviously he would be cheaper.

I really don't see us signing anybody, unless its one of our own or a nobody.
