Rubio Resolution; Por-Minny

Post#1 » by SoCal Al » Wed Jul 1, 2009 8:13 pm

Assuming that Portland signs Turkoglu

Blazers Trade/T-Wolves get: Rudy Fernandez, Steve Blake, and Joel Prybilla, and future picks

T-Wolves Trade/Blazers get: Jonny Flynn, Etan Thomas, and Brian Cardinal

Minny appeases Rubio by moving Flynn and acquiring another former DKV teammate in Fernandez. Blake gives them a more than capable backup and place holder should Rubio not be immediately ready to start. And Pryzbilla, the Minny alum, is a rugged back up 5.

Rubio/Blake
Fernandez/Brewer
Gomes/Smith
Love/Songalia
Jefferson/Pryzbilla

Portland relieves the glut of small forwards that would be furthered by signing Hedo. Thomas and Cardinal fill the roles of the bangers the Blazers desired to backup at the 4/5. And the Blazers would be able to split the point guard duties between Flynn and Bayless, who could play together with Roy logging time at the 3, Hedo and the 4, and Aldridge manning the 5. That would create major offense, and, at the same time be very soft, but that's not the point.

Bayless/Flynn/Mills
Roy/Webster
Hedo/Batum/Outlaw
Aldridge/Outlaw/Cardinal
Oden/Thomas/Aldridge

**i know i'm way off on this but how far off am i? Could Portland get Flynn or Rubio out of Minny?

**** no from Portland. You might be able to pry Rudy away, but why do we have to give up Przybilla and eat a ton of garbage? Go away.

Friggin horrible for Blazers. Flynn straight across for Rudy is as good as you get!

You're not getting Rudy + Przybilla for less than Rubio. Whether or not Rudy is upset.

I'd do Rudy, Webster, + future pick for Flynn+Smith if I'm both. I only do it if I am Minny IF it guarantees Rubio plays next season.

That's not going to get it done for Jonny Flynn.

I think Pekovic would be the main cog in a deal between the teams. For one, Portland doesn't have the playing time for any more youngsters anyway. Second, Pekovic would be a nice replacement to bring over for Pryzbilla when he comes off the cap.

Utah 2010 first (top 17 protected) + Pekovic for Rudy.

Portland posters won't like it (obviously), but this is a more realistic offer in my honest opinion.

I could handle that, Pekovic is tearing it up in the euroleague, and that top-15 protected utah pick could be nice, but it makes sense for both teams and I there's plenty of value for Portland.

Then you can keep Jonny Flynn and we'll keep Rudy and we'll both be happier for it. =)

I say the Blazers FO push the boundaries of the CBA once again and trade him to Olympikos for Josh Childress.

Roy for Foye for Rubio for Ferndandez.

Wolves should probably just quit while they are ahead and stick with Rubio, rather than getting ripped off by portland again. Wolves could find better offers than this.

Although Rudy apparently may not.

Przybilla is in the deal, so no.

Also, it seems really silly to trade Rudy in a deal that nets Rubio. Those guys play great together.

As a Minnesota fan, I'd say that this is pretty terrible for Portland.

A simple Rudy for Flynn swap (we could probably throw in Craig Smith, too) would be excellent for both teams.

I think Rudy for Flynn is potentially interesting to explore for Portland, if Rudy demands a trade.

I think that if Minny were really interested in trading the guy they took #6, they would have taken Curry.

For clarification the original trade wasn't posted by a Wolves fan. But the Wolves would do that in a heartbeat. I'm liking me some Flynn, but to get Rudy and Joel from Monticello? That would be awesome. Solves all of our problems in one trade. Scratch the "future picks" portion if that was coming from Portland.

C - Przybilla/Love/Madsen
PF - Jefferson/Smith/Songalia
SF - Gomes/Brewer
SG - Fernandez/Ellington
PG - Rubio/Blake/Telfair/Brown

That's a great start for the Wolves, even though it cuts into our 2010 cap space by pretty bad, think we'd have $8mil left. Cuts salary for the Blazers, although it's an overall loss in talent. So yeah, doubtful the Blazers do it, but what if I say "Please!?!!?!?!?!?!?"

Wolves have the Utah pick to add in, does that help? :-)

I'm not sure that Minny was interested in trading on draft day (if they were, they were looking for a Flynn to Sac for Evans deal). I think that it's more likely that Flynn was simply higher on their draft board than Curry, so they went BPA. With the way that the Rubio negotiations are going now, however, it's sounding like both Rubio's and Flynn's camps would like to see one of the young Points moved.

How about Rudy, Bayless, Outlaw for Flynn, Love and Madsen?

I believe that Minny had Flynn above both Curry and Rubio on their board and drafted Rubio with the intention of trading him. I really don't think Flynn is going anywhere based on how the draft board went for Minny.

Of course, Rudy is a guy that looked completely untouchable on draft night, and so I could see a player like that becoming available changing some opinions. The Rubio/Rudy backcourt sure looked good in the gold medal game.
