New York might sign Kidd, that is sort of a blow.

Ya but how good will Kidd make them if he has no one around him?

He is running on a pretty empty tank too.

Kidd couldn't do jack in NJ with VC. I don't think he'll fare too well without Lee in NY

VC isn't exactly a winner, tho. He's kind of a black hole.
Kidd is basically a shadow of what he was, but he could still motivate the Knicks to win a few too many games. I hope he stays in Dallas.

Knicks are reportedly offering Lee $32M over 4 years.
It doesn't look to me like NY is interested in helping the Jazz out much...

I think that helps us. I would figure Milsap to get something fairly similar to him.
Other Knicks news: Mo Almond is going to play on their summer league team.

I would like Mo to come back. If we resign him for the minimum terminating his contract was VERY smart.

If there was any chance for Mo to come back he'd have been on our team this year.

Ya there is no way Almond comes back. Lets hope he doesn't turn super star in the New York system or else we will be really mad at ourselves.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even make the Knicks.

If the knicks pick up JKidd, they will make the 8th spot in the playoffs. It doesnt matter who is around him. Look at detroit. They will be good enough in the east to make the playoffs and we will not get a lotto pick.

Eh... NY minus Lee & Robinson = worst team in NBA. If you add Kidd to that, it doesn't equate to a playoff seed. If they are able to retain Lee, maybe. But even then, I doubt it. Indiana, Charlotte, and Toronto will all still be better than the Knicks. Not to mention the fact that Washington will be healthy again.
Kidd is just using NYK for leverage.

I agree. If you're Jason Kidd, why would you want to go to New York this year?

At this point I am more worried about the "secret" move Walsh is supposedly making then the kid signing. Lee is gone and hopefully Nate will be too.

If there's any truth to that, it sounds like more salary cutting. That should be good news for the Jazz.

Re: New York Watch thread. The race for the 2010 #1 pick.
I think at this point you guys are overestimating some teams in the east and underestimating the Knicks. If we add Kidd and keep Lee and our team remains somewhat healthy throughout the season I'd be more than surprised if we don't reach the 38win mark and compete for the playoffs till the very last week of the season. Keep in mind that Gallinari is gonna be playing and while you guys might not know much about him I gotta tell you that he is the best shooter on the Knicks right away. He shot 45% from 3 point range last year and knocked down most his open shots. I'd go as far as saying that he is a top 10 shooter in the league right now. Chandler went from 8/3 to 15/5 and is bound to further improve.
Our biggest weakness was shotblocking and shot intimidation last season. With Milicic and Hill we added two decent defenders and shotblockers right away.
New Jersey and Milwaukee are officially in tank mode. Toronto at the moment cannot be considered better---Parker and Marion are most likely gone. Bulls just lost their second-best player for nothing. Philly is in limbo with the pending FA of Miller and Brand's injury.
Washington if healthy is gonna be a top 5 team in the east no doubt.
We'll find out more in the next days after Kidd and Lee decide what they're gonna do.

Problem is your more then likely not keeping Lee or signing Kidd. Gallinari will probably be good eventually but I doubt he has a very large impact his first couple years. And when did you guys get Hill? I thought you were just talking to him not signing him.
As far as the Walsh move...ya thats what I'm hoping for, just more salary dumping but you never know with the Knicks.

Re: New York Watch thread. The race for the 2010 #1 pick.
I was talking about Jordan Hill-our lottery pick.
As for David Lee , well it remains to be seen but if Kidd declines our offer then I'd be VERY surprised to see David Lee go---think about it: If Walsh can afford to give 6mill. per year to Kidd you'd think that in case Kidd remains in Dallas he'd easily give Lee 8mill. The other option is both Nate and Lee signing the QO and making them unrestricted FAs next offseason.
Anyway I guess the best thing is to just wait another few days or weeks and continue this discussion when the Nate/Lee/Kidd situation is resolved.
BTW one final note about the dumping salary thing: IF so then it'd involve Jeffries or Curry---both not exactly strong contributors of our team so it wouldn't really matter. But at this point I'd go as far as almost guaranteeing that Walsh wouldn't give up any valuable asset to dump either one of the two. Mobley's insured contract probably but not a rotation player.

I will be pissed if Kidd goes to NY. He will put them at the bottom of the lotto, like 8-10th pick again. Don't know why Kidd would go there though, he isn't a long term guy and is on the verge of ring chasing age. Doesn't seem like the way to build a real contender.
