Rudy Fernandez Pissed off maybe we get him

Post#1 » by wadero » Wed Jul 1, 2009 9:24 pm

I know Morey was wanting to draft him when Portland took him. He is upset with his playing time and maybe wanting to go back overseas. I say we try to trade for him. Could solve our wing problem. Any thoughts?

Not gonna happen. Portland isn't going to help us out.

If they trade him, it's to the east.

Yeah my thoughts too, I doubt Portland would deal a significant piece like him to us. And what would we offer anyway?

If Rudy wasn't there they were going to draft Brooks. They really like him.
But I'd try some variation of Landry for their $2.913mil TE(+ $100,000 allowed equals Landry's salary) and Fernandez for the $1.4mil TE from Alston trade.

Blazers is going after Hedo. If they signed Hedo, that will mean even more less playing time for Rudy Fernandez.

Rubio is staying in Spain for two years. Even if he weren't it's doubtful that Minnesota would trade him and Gomes for two draft picks and Outlaw.

I think Orlando could go after him if Portland Signs Hedo. There will be significant amount of minutes open at the wing with only Vince and Mikeal.

Living out here in Portland I can tell you that the rumors of Rudy being angry is being taken with a grain of salt. All the sports talk radio shows out here are calling BS on it. We have a sports writer with Rudy in Spain for his basketball camps and Rudy has been saying nothing but good things about the team and how he is looking forward to next season. So until we hear it from Rudy or a Blazer representative then we are not going to worry about it.

For the person who said that signing Hedo would cut into Rudy's minutes: Rudy plays the 2 guard spot. Hedo plays the 3 and the 4. This would not affect Rudy in the least bit.

On another note, I really hope Artest does not sign with the Lakers....hope he stays with Houston.

BlazertheGreek,
Rudy played quite a bit of the 3 last yr teamed w/Roy. If he's only going to get 10min a game as Roy's back-up...
And now there are reports of him expressing concern over minutes available in interviews w/Spanish Radio and print. It is something that other teams will keep an eye on,and fans will speculate on.

What interviews are these? Care to post a link to them other then the moron Sheridan who is just speculating. BlazertheGreek is correct that everthing here has pointed to Rudy being fine and happy for next season. And Rudy didn't play the 3 at all, it was Roy who played the 3. Obviously minutes could be a little reduced, but Roy could slide to PG to allow Rudy to come in as well.

From BlazersEdge:

Acording to Marca Rudy talked to Efe Radio:

1º.- There´re always rumors and he knows about them from the press.

2º.- He hasn´t talked to his agents about him leaving the Blazers. He has only comented with them about the possibility of Turkoglu going to Portland.

3º.- He doesn´t close doors to any team from Europe or the NBA.

4º.- Asked about whether Torkoglu going to Portland might affect his playing time, he said: I want to play. We´ll have to talk with Portland and ask them how can I do it.

More about the same interview in ACB.com

" Turkoglu is a perimeter player and we are speaking about almost six for two positions. This makes me think that the team does not give me space for my work. I have demonstrated that I could be more of a factor."

"I have been surprised with the minutes that I have played but if now they pick up a player in my position, that will stop my progression, and what I want is minutes so I can improve."

Martell Webster is coming back to play the 2/3 after missing all last season so even if Hedo doesn't come then Rudy may lose playing time.

texasholdem,
Portland used Outlaw at the 3 for much of last season. This yr they say he'll be a 4. Webster would get Outlaw's minutes,same-same.
Personally I think it will blow if Hedu is signed Rudy will get assurances from the management and will start the season fine. But if he thinks he's getting too few minutes as season progress,,,then it will get interesting.
