But teams are seriously concerned about economic issues right now. It's not just the Suns, it's the whole league. (Well, maybe not Toronto, wtf is up with the Hedo deal?)

Yes, that's a terrifyingly stupid amount of money for Hedo. Anyone else read the piece today (ESPN?) about what Hedo actually brings you. It's an eye-opener for anyone on his bandwagon. He's a decent player but nowhere near the level TO's talking about. What's wrong with BC?

Hedo the $60 million man: Jaw-droppingly wrong -

Since early in the playoffs when I mispronounced this guy's name I have had a mental block about it and it invariably comes out "Turdo Heekolu"

Good thing I'm not in broadcasting

edit; storuyis updated now and says TO is out of the running.

I doubt that the deal is dead (simply because I dont think another team has offered as much to date and I dont think Kerr is the type to take less just to avoid a personal black mark).

The 8th will be a telling day, and if the Amar'e to GS trade truly is dead, I do hope that Kerr does get better value... last season practically our entire board soured on our front office because they believed the FO cared about their own agendas before the franchise and winning, and it became so negative and unbearable :banghead:

On a quick side-note, are Suns fans buying the Amar'e extension stuff? The timing of it just doesnt seem to make sense to me, typing up on average 19m/yr and not having a 1st going into next season. I can see them holding Amar'e for the year and taking the risky S&T route, but not an extension.

No one is buying the extension b.s. If they did extend him now without him earning the contract with some months of healthy play after all this I can see him taking the year off with a series of undisclosed injuries. Not to mention he'd be (Please Use More Appropriate Word) not to put an enormous trade kicker in there because he's likely out the door once he makes his X. Would we even negotiate if they wanted a trade kicker? Who knows at this point.

i am buying on the extension if its less than max. neither the team nor amare benefit from uncertainty. if the suns think amare is healthy (or as healthy as they will believe him to be at trade deadline and end of season) then why not.

whatever nash tells them to do. he's co-GM

I'm not buying this, but I figure that, if I repeat it enough, it will come true.

Yeah, I don't think it's dead either. More like an impasse. Even if it was dead, it doesn't take much to revive it either.

To be so against an Amare extension before, just sounds like the Suns are posturing to make it seem like they don't need to do anything. And I doubt he would turn down a trade there too, especially if they were to give him close to or the kinda extension he wants. Something I'm not convinced PHX FO wants to do with what's gone on.

I guess TO just has to overpay to have a chance to get a player. Is it the tax rate?

I mean, look at what they had to pay Kapono.

Hey Tastic... how about closing this eye sore of a thread... start a new one just for potential Amare deals...

I grow weary of seeing this title at the top of the board, when it caused so much anxiety (and hope) for those few days of wonder.

heard that Brewshard fellow from SI earlier today saying it is a certainty that Stat will be dealt this year when a tasty enough offer comes knocking...and he expected one.

Just a little 'outsider ' info.

interesting and somewhat unnecessary that Stoudemire made a public appearance with the owner...more posturing?

Nah... don't read into too much.

Bottom line is this... An extended Amare is much easier to trade. It increases his marketability 20X

who'd have thought we'd have 100 pages combined on a GS rumor that most likely will never come to fruition because of Dell Curry's son?

I won't start a new thread because the stickied ones just get ignored and everyone posts new ideas anyway...so no biggy
