So, I know the offseason is only just beggining, but I'm getting pretty anxious. There are a ton of players available (guys like Kaman, Chandler, Hamilton, Amare, Bosh, etc) and this time we actually have the pieces to get them. Lots of expirings (which despite being expiring can still contribute this year - Boozer, Korver, Memo and maybe even Harp) and some talent who can also help in a trade like Brewer, CJ, Maynor, Kosta, etc.
I think everyone will agree with me that anyone not named Deron is available. Detroit has already signed CV and Gordon. Memphis just traded for Randolph. If OKC signs Lee, it's gonna be pretty hard to find a team willing to take the salary for us to re-sign Sap without going 10 million into luxury territory.
I'm getting pretty anxious to see what will happen. I believe KOC will use the same excuse as always and say that this team when healthy went to the WCF and he wants to see what they can do now, once again. The Jazz, IMO, won't re-sign Sap despite what has been said, and they also won't try to do anything big, as usual. And this team, as it is, cannot contend for a title IMO.
So, what do you guys think should happen and what will actually happen?
Mods, if you feel this thread in unnecessary because of all the other trade thread and offseason moves, feel free to delete it or merge it.

What do I think the Jazz should do? There are a couple of scenarios.
If Millsap can be had for 9 mil or less, bring him back. If not, let him go.
Regardless, use Boozer to get additional help for the team. Whether or not is means saving money. If you are going to pay the tax this year, might as well do it right and get some help for the team.
If Boozer had opted out, they would have let him walk, he didn't, so turn him into something. Don't just pay 12 million this year to watch him walk next.
Addressing Boozer is the most important thing. And actually, I do think KOC will find a way to turn Boozer into help for the future.

I think there will be 1 trade besides what happens to Millsap (maybe to facilitate a signing). But I don't know the Jazz are looking to move anyone/everyone besides Deron.
I'd predict that Millsap gets matched if the Jazz can move Boozer in a trade that helps the team in some fashion (please don't pick up someone like Zach Randolph for him...). If not, I see them letting Millsap go and look for another cheaper option for backup PF. Alot of it depends on Boozer and his relationship with the team. I can't tell if there really is a problem or if the media hypes it more than is really going on.
If the Jazz can stay healthy, they have a decent shot at advancing in the playoffs. The Rockets are likely to take a step back with injuries to McGrady and Yao and San Antonio is good but thin as things stand now. I'd expect most of the team to stay intact.

Trade Boozer to OKC for a 1st rounder (Similar to Camby) and sign Millsap.

OKC is the last team seeking an established PF and there are two available, so... re-sign Millsap before he signs an offer sheet. This is crucial so that the Jazz pay less luxury tax this coming season (back loaded contract vs front loaded) and OKC will go after Lee. Knicks will then suck that much more next season; a win/win for the Jazz!

You're not going to trade Boozer for anything more than equal cost players and/or expirings. What GM in their right mind is going to trade good assets for a one year rental free agent? None. Well, none since Isaiah Thomas got the boot anyway. That is the inherent problem with have Boozer on the roster. Unless we willingly take back player(s) with longer term contracts at the same contract pay (12.7 mil), we are going to spend this season with Boozer as our PF. Sorry, but get used to it. Unless there are some ballsy GM's willing to rent him for the season, this is the only way it will pan out. Either we're stuck with him and his 12.7 mil, or we get longer term contracts worth 12.7 mil.

Any team looking to save money with a massive expiring contract, that still wants to have a ticket sales draw.

It is possible to get something of worth back for Carlos. If a team were to be heading down the stretch and was pretty close to being in it to win it, but just needed some interior scoring and rebounding, I can see that team being willing to pay something significant for a chance at a title. We're probably not getting anything huge in return, but I can see a fairly valuable future 1st or something like that.
