Is McHale Running the Grizzlies?

Post#1 » by younggunsmn » Thu Jul 2, 2009 2:52 am

Zach Randolph (16mil, 17mil) traded for
Quentin Richardson (8.7)

Clip raped them in this deal, the griz didn't even offload jaric,
The worst part is that they used 7.3 mil of '09 cap room in this deal, and 17 million of 2010.
They should have at the very least unloaded Jaric too.
idiot owner won't let them sign Lee outright for 10 mil,
but ok's an extra 24 million over 2 years for this tool.
Dude may be able to score, but his defense is soft as charmin and he is a black hole on offense.

clips now have 7.3 mil trade exception to work with,
plus suddenly have a ton of '09-10 cap room with only about 36 million committed (even with Kaman).

unloading randolph makes a kaman deal much more unlikely.

Why on earth do griz help out their conference and lottery rival this much and take on a known cancer with a horrible deal? But the idiots wouldn't take 18 to move down 4 spots, instead they take a backup center at 2.

Chris Wallace is now bar none the dumbest GM in the league with McHale gone.

Grizzlies fans, and OJ Mayo you have my deepest sympathies.

The Griz now have 3 guys not known for sharing the ball. Call it the Mayo-Gay-Z-Bo

Mayo gets a bad rap. He shares the ball. He averaged almost 4 assists per game the last two months of the season when Conley finally learned how to hit a wide open shot. Rudy on the other hand, definitely a ball hog. Zach? I haven't seen him play enough. That is definitely his rep, but I'm hoping people are just parroting what they've heard others say.

The coach is going to have to teach these guys how to play together. The Grizzlies didn't lose anything; so I don't see it being a bad move.

That's pretty brutal. It's sad when a GM is so bad he makes Dunleavy look good.

The Griz are slowly trying to take the mantle of worst team in the league.

For the last few years, I strongly envied the Grizzlies as the team that was doing the right things, making the right moves, and becoming a powerhouse. Aldridge, Roy, Bayless, Oden, Rudy. Now that Oden hasn't panned out (should've taken Durant), Rudy is upset, and now the Randolph trade, I'm very much back in favor of the way my Wolves do business.

Mayo must have gotten a hold of some of Shooter's high quality crack cocaine.

Maybe the Grizzlies are planning something big for the 2011 off-season!?

Can't understand the trade. They went from targeting Lee to Randolph in the blink of an eye.

Poor Marc Gasol, all the year working hard and Grizzlies brings another egoist player more. I wish he go out from Memphis. I think they don't appreciate his work team.

What do you think about pursuing Marc Gasol? Now that they have Thabeet and Z-Bo, Gasol might be expandable...he has great size with 7-1 ft. and is a really decent C.

We would obviously have to take back a bad contract like Jarics but wouldn't that be worth locking our front court for years with Jefferson, Gasol and Love?
Problem is I don't see much we could offer them for Gasol since their starting roster is pretty much locked up right now.

they'll likely have better record than us though, that team might look pretty effed up, but still dangerous if you don't come to play

Gasol
Randolph
Gay
Mayo
Conley
Thabeet
Arthur
and of course, Jaric

that team can run you off the court in a hurry if they're in a flow. Not saying they're going to make a playoff run or anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if they win more games than we do. Not at all surprised.

Yeah they could have a better record than us, but only if Al misses alot of time and Rubio doesn't come over or get traded. They have some talent but Randolph and Gay are not winning players. Atleast one of them will be complaining about not getting enough shots by midseason. So yeah, they might win a few more games but Randolph and Gay can only take you so far. Like a wise man once said, weirdos don't win championships. If I was Mayo I would want out of there ASAP.

ladies and gentlemen, the first person in history to envy the Grizzlies. knowing only one player on a team's roster will do that to you.

mayo, who are your favorite wolves players? Yi Jinlian? Kenyon Martin?

This is a great move for the grizz. The Randolph hate is way overblown. He's still a 20-10 big, his only knock is poor defense. AND LOOK OMG they just drafted thabeet to cover that part up some.

As others have noted, I'm less struck by the envy, and more by the fact that the Grizzlies apparently traded for the entire Trailblazers core overnight.

Talent-wise it's not a bad team but what's the over-under on how long it takes for them to implode?
