Any of these guys worth a look on our summer league team?

Josh Hettvelt
Leo Lyons
Jon Bryant- Santa Clara

Stick out in my mind as " worth a look" based on the predraft articles I read.

Adrien, Christmas, Rice and Mcneal I hear are already signed by other teams.

Yeah, I believe they all are which is too bad because I was interested in seeing them all play. I like all of their games.

His first chance at proving he's a keeper comes this weekend when the Celtics will take him to Orlando for a week of summer league with Bill Walker, Gabe Pruitt and J.R. Giddens, as well as a handful of guys who stand on the fringe of the NBA. Michael Sweetney, who's attempting an NBA comeback, highlights a list of free agents already nailed down for the Celtics' summer league team that will compete in a game a day from July 6-10.

Ainge also revealed that Chris Lofton, Coby Karl, Darius Washington, Bryce Taylor, Kevin Rogers and Bryan Mullins are slated to join the summer roster, and he's working on adding a few more names to the mix today.

Walker, Giddens and Pruitt didn't rack up many regular season or playoff minutes between the three of them last year, so Hudson isn't the only one competing for a job.

"I remember when I was playing with the Celtics, every year they would draft a guard because we had a Hall of Fame front line," Ainge said. "You've got to prove yourself every day. It's no different trying to win a job on a team that's trying to win a championship."

That's 11 guys. Pruitt, Hudson, Lofton, Karl, Mullins, and Washington are all PGs.

I'm liking the Josh Carter kid. Better than 50% at 3 pt range got my attention.

Hudson reminds me of Ray Allen - in a couple of years he can take over Ray's position.

Actually, I would take a long look at Heytvelt. I was surprised he was not drafted. He is a good athlete, with a soft touch and good coordination. He won't be a star, but he is likely an NBA player if the off the court issues are behind him

I like Sweetney a lot...

The guy was a VERY VERY good college player.
Drafted in the lotto.
In his first 4 seasons he logged 3600 NBA minutes with very respectable numbers.

All good things that point towards at least a long career as a good role-player. But he hasn't done anything (as far as I can tell) for the last 2 years. Does anyone know what happened? Did he eat himself out of the league? Did he get hurt? Was he just that much of a jerk?

If Sweetney is in shape and focused he has a chance to make the team IMO. Of course those are some big ifs, but the kid does have some game.

I'm interested in seeing Chris Lofton play as well, if he could improve his shot selection he could be a Eddie House type player.

Sweetney is a good guy who got very motivated to get in very good shape his last year or two at georgetwon. But it seemed that as soon as his dad died (shortly after he was drafted by the Knicks) Sweetney lost so much of his motivation and drive. He would end up wasting his years in the NBA by not keeping his weight down. However if he has snapped out of it and has been putting in the work then yeah he is good enough to make a roster and help a team. Its always been up to him and his commitment.
