Trade for Memphis' Lakers 2010 1rst Round Pick?

Post#1 » by Jammer » Thu Jul 2, 2009 11:00 pm

Memphis Depth Chart (12 players if they keep all 3 2009 Draft Picks)

They obviously need a full sized SG who can defend, and two more point guards.

C: Marc Gasol / Hasheem Thabeet / Hamed Haddadi
PF: Zach Randolph / Hakim Warrick (RFA) / Darrell Arthur
SF: Rudy Gay / Marko Jaric / 2009 #27 Pick DeMarre Carroll / 2009 #36 pick Sam Young
SG: O. J. Mayo
PG: Mike Conley

They are under the cap. They can just accept a player.

Why not offer Tony Allen or J. R. Giddens for the Lakers 2010 First Round Pick that is
due Memphis from the Pau Gasol trade???

And, why not offer Gabe Pruitt for the Grizzlies 2011 Second Round Pick?
Note: Memphis 2010 Second Round Pick is owned by the Lakers,
and their 2011 Second Round Pick is owned by Houston
if Memphis has one of the 5 best records in the league; if not, the Grizz keep it.

The Celtics clear 2 roster spots without taking someone back, freeing up salary,
and gain 2 picks at the same time.

And Tony Allen or Giddens in Memphis would be perfect.

If the Celtics could ship Scal someplace, for a 2nd Round Pick,
they could sign and trade for Grant Hill if Phoenix would
do him a favor and send Hill off for a second round pick
(if Hill wanted to come to Boston).

Alternatively, the Celtics could use Tony Allen in a S&T
to get Hill the money he wants and leaving the MLE for a Big.

Unfortunately everyone knows these guys suck, not just us.
Walker is the only young guy with any value, and it's debatable if he's worth a 1st.

No. Its not debatable. Walker has done nothing to prove he is an NBA player and will fetch us a 2nd at best.

I loved him in college, and I know he only dropped to us because of the injury. But he barely played last year and didnt show much of anything when on the court, not a big deal since he is a rookie on a playoff team, but there is no team that saw enough out of him to give us a first. Thats crazy.

If you think he could fetch a first you are kidding yourself.

Giddens or T. Allen will not fetch you a 1st round pick.

T Allen and Scal and maybe House (all expiring) will get you a GOOD player... you might just have to wait for the deadline.

Trades like that don't happen unless you're the Lakers.

Seriously, this might be the most ridiculous trade idea I've ever seen on this board. Other than Kwame for Gasol.

It's going to be a low pick anyway, if the package is right the Grizz may just do a deal. But they won't give it away for what the Celtics have on their roster now.

Maybe Tony Allen and Gabe for a second or maybe 2 seconds. That could help us because I think we might be way over the cap.
