Even if Ariza does come, he wont do anything for this team. The only reason he flourished is cause he was in Phils system. Anywhere else he will look like a scrub. He doesnt fit our system. He will be another gerald green.

He won't be a scrub, but he won't be the player the Lakers had. He'll just be a good, rangy 10ppg offensive player with good athleticism. Nothign to go home about, and nothing that can mimic what his agent feels his client is capable of.

I don't see Ariza doing much either. I trust Morey but I just pray it's not some knee jerk reaction to everything going on with the team right now. The only way it would make sense is if Morey sees Ariza still growing and maturing as a player.

RocketFan,
Phil's Triangle and Adelman's hi-post motion offense have a lot in common. When executed properly there is a lot of off-ball movement, cutting, screening, etc. Ariza is very good at this.
He is developing into a very nice complemetary SF who if signed is Battier's replacement.
Battier shoots 3s much better, plays better positional defense. Ariza rebounds better, esp on offensive glass,is much more disruptive on D using his long arms to get steals and otherwise break up passes, and looks to cut and finish around rim far more than Shane.
If Ariza is signed I'd expect Shane to be key part of package for a C in a trade.

The key competition for Ariza is Blazers who can offer beyond the MLE. Cavs like Rockets can only offer MLE. Morey didnot offer Gortat the full MLE but will offer the full MLE to Ariza as Ariza has that talent. If Rockets signed Ariza, Rockets may trade Battier for a center.
