Wait, what happened to the Blazers? A little too late?

I'm not sure if I should be excited about this move. But I admire Morey's attempt to create something in the midst of the messy situation we're in. Signing Ariza could mean the Rockets are going to put up with Tracy McGrady.

I wonder what's next? Battier for a C?

It's a weird signing, when we don't have a C at the moment.

I said it in the other post but the only way this makes sense is if Morey believes Ariza is going to continue to grow as a player. It's possible yes but I'm always a bit skeptical about players suddenly producing in a contract year. I pray this was not a knee jerk reaction to losing Artest.

ariza assures us legit sg/sf players for at least the next 2 seasons.

in morey i trust, and he delivered again. he'll deliver again either w/ dorsey breaking out or getting a 6'11+ big.

I wonder why Ariza chose us, Portland is in a better situation likely offering more money, and Cleveland is the favorite to win the East.

That must be it. I mean he's only 23 years-old.

I wonder what the remaining terms are.

BTW, did Morey just punk Kupchak? I mean Ariza was LA's first priority and thanks to Ariza's agent, LA blew it. Kupchak ended up with Artest (possibly their 2nd target).

We have to thank Ariza's agent for this.

I wonder if you guys think you can trade Battier for a good center.

Marc Spears of Boston Globe is reporting 5 years, $33 million for Ariza in Houston.

You guys should tank it (I hate the idea but other teams do it too), Let Tmac expire or trade him for expirings, get a top pick, hope Yao comes back, and sign a big free agent.

You guys would be stacked.

Great news. Ariza is good for MLE money. Good value. Essentially, now we still have 2 good wing defender. I can also see Battier is now a big trade bait for a Center.

i dont't like this for us:

1. i believe the reason the knicks traded him away in the first place is cause he will have lingering foot problems

2. he can't create for anyone

3. he capitalized on his scoring opportunities playing next to kobe and pau, who do we have?

i hope this is so we can trade him for rudy fernandez later, or something

Good point. Ariza did work on his outside game over the summer though so at least it's a sign he'll continue to work on his game unless of course it was just for the contract.

Well, this means two things:

1. Morey is staying put with T-Mac.
2. In the meantime, YOU need to step up and make plays for him.

p.s.: I wonder if Ariza is going to fire his agent.

I'd see him as a very good fit next to McGrady, but everything we've heard, he won't be back till mid-season. Curious to see what's next.

Return to Houston Rockets
