You're telling me Ariza doesn't want to sign for the MLE. So RON ARTEST, easiely worth 14 mil per year. Signs a 3-year deal at the MLE.

THREE YEARS!

Artest just wants to put his name in a dynasty and not have to work for it.

ANY agent doesn't want his client to sign like that.

Lets look at it... hmm Boozer doesn't opt-out because next year a QUARTER of the league has massive unheard of cap space. SO ron-ron takes himself out of the running for that big pie last contract to finish off his career with a 3 year deal for money that is half of his actualy worth. Half!

You won't see another crazy bull signing like this from a veterant with the petigree like Artest in a 10 years. The Players Union hates it, the agent wasn't allowed to do his job, and the only ones that make out are the Lakers. Artest regardless if it's willingly or not totally **** himself out of probuly 30 million based on the potential deal he could get next off-season.

I'm **** heated.

Yep. Exactly.

Artest handed himself over on a gold platter for free, basically.

I hate how LA has garbage work out for them every time you think there's a chance they're vulnerable. I seriously wonder if the NBA has a plan in place to keep the Lakers - a popular, big market team - in contention for years to come because they can't afford ($$$) for them not to be.

We have to deal with Kobe's punk @$$ for the next 5 years and now the rich just get richer.

And yes, the Artest signing is just like the Gasol deal in the sense that Chris Wallace could've gotten way more for Gasol and chose to give him to LA, and Artest could've gone anywhere else for way more money and chose to hand himself over to LA.

Screw the Lakers. Rotten, shallow, finesse, immoral bunch of douchebags in a soulless, douchebag city.

Spurs add RJ
LA adds Artest
Orl adds Carter
Cavs add Shaq

Boston .............................

We need Sheed and 1 more player. Hill or McDyess would help. WE NEED ADDITION!

Give me a **** break dude. You're just mad because he went to LA...get the hell over it sir. Some players actually value putting themselves in a situation where they have a shot at winning it all, and apparently Artest is one of them. For some it's not all about the money...you know it's possible for an athlete to live off of a "paltry" 6mm a yr right?

thank you, took the words right outta my mouth. If Artest Signs with Boston for the same amount you'll see no problem with it what so ever. More athletes should be like Artest and not always think about the money and think about winning. He said it on espn that he's made money from all the other teams he played for and now it's not about that, it's about winning. you guys knew he was gonna sign with L.A or Cle for the mle, so why is everyone going crazy

In what universe is Ron Artest worth $14M/yr over longer than 3 years? That would be horridly overpaid. The max he's worth is about $10M-$11M/yr over 5 years based on his production, skillset, and defensive game. And that's assuming a team is willing to ignore his baggage and antics, which is highly unlikely, and is why he's probably worth closer to $8M-$9M over 4 years on the open market. And since no team has cap space and this is a crappy summer for FAs, basically the Blazers, Raptors, and no one else can offer him those dollars. Plenty of teams can offer him MLE, though, and that's exactly what he got.

So since dude is a nutcase, you'd have to be insane to offer him a max long-term deal, which is why he got offered 3 from LA and 1 from Houston.
