OT- Will Lamar Odom resign with the Lakers?

Post#1 » by return2glory » Fri Jul 3, 2009 9:26 am

Will Odom resign with the Lakers? Before they were talking about they couldn't resign Ariza and Odom. Now they let Ariza go, but signed Artest. Can they resign Odom or will another team make a better offer. The Pistons should have gone after Odom instead of Charlie V.

If the Lakers resign Odom, they should repeat unless the Cavs somehow get Marion. I'm I the only one that that excited about going after a player that averaged only 6.5 pts and shot 37% from the field, while not attempting any FT's in the playoffs?

Not a chance he leaves LA. If I'm not mistaken I read somewhere if anything they'll use Bird Rights on him and he has all intentions to remain in LA.

No one can offer him more than L.A., so no. Only team with cap space left that could sign him is Portland, but he wouldn't fit anywhere on their frontline unless they give up on either Oden or Aldridge starting. Which would be insane.

There isn`t much interest from other team for Odom, so I think lakers will have no problem resigning him...

I guess Bynum's coming off the bench because I don't think Odom would re-sign there if he's coming off the bench. Unless you go:

Kobe
Artest
Odom
Gasol
Bynum

That lineup is insane, god damn insane. What the **** are we gonna do with that???

Lack of shooting after Kobe. Good team, susceptible to quickness on the perimeter from the PG spot. I am dubious how Artest will fit in. I don't have a good feeling.

UR just being a homer. That lineup would be ridiculous. Seriously even if Farmer starts and Bynum comes off the bench that is just scary on paper. Obviously if you want to say chemistry could be an issue than fine, I would agree. From a pure basketball perspective that lineup would be one of the better ones I've seen, and I've been watching NBA basketball for 25 years.

So a guy who was already thinking about free agency and knew his team was done had a bad playoffs, big surprise. You are making a mountain out of a molehill. Basing your judgment of a guy on 4 bad games against a vastly superior team is ridiculous.

THat is actually a bad lineup for the Lakers. First of all, they don't have a point guard. SPacing would be an issue, (although Artest can hit 3's when he's on). The most important thing is that the second unit would suffer. Fisher, Brown, Walton, Vucacic, Powell? Come on. They're better off bringing Odom or Artest off the bench.

Regardless, Phil Jackson have never (or maybe only once ever) gone with a front court of Odom, Gasol, Bynum. I don't see it happening, especially at the cost of not having a legit point guard on the floor (not that any of the lakers point guards is legit..haha).

They run a triangle offense. You don't need a point guard. Honestly if they ran with this lineup Odom would be handling the ball a lot. With Kobe's and Gasol's passing skills that lineup would be devastating IMO.

He could walk, since they're trying to lowball him... In the past, Buss has not wanted to pay a steep luxury tax. They're already committed to about $82 million, with Artest's signing and they want to upgrade at pg. Yes Fisher hit some clutch playoff shots, but he's nearly done. Just ask the LA media and Farmer's very inconsistent.

LA's big problem is that they have about $30 million tied up in stiffs like Bynum, Sasha, Morrison and Walton....

We wont let him walk. He knows his role and he is very comfertable coming off the bench since he asked P.J to come off the bench last year. Also he has mentioned that he will take a pay cut to stay in LA and finish his career in LA. Keep in mind that him and Artest were best friends and grewup together as well as playing ball in the same league and they have a lot in common with one and other.
One of the main reasons that Artest did decide to come to LA was because of L.O so I cant really see LO being a big reason why Artest came to LA and then we dont sign LO and let him walk.
