The Artest signing is very high risk. If it works out, the Lakers will be awesome. The problem is, how is Ron Ron going to behave when Kobe and Gasol are getting all the shots. In the short term its probably a brilliant move. Long term, it will likely end badly.

If anybody can make it work it's Phil Jackson. Let's hope Rambis is coaching them next season.

I think a big part of this acquisition is Phil wanting the challenge of coaching Artest. Obviously Artest brings a lot to the team, but where other coaches may have shied away from Artest, I think Phil is probably looking forward to wrangling the madness of Ron-Ron.

But we'll see if Artest can stay within the Lakers' offense. He can take a lot of bad shots. That's forgivable when you're on a Rockets squad without any other proven scorers, but if you're taking 25-foot three-pointers on this Lakers team you're not helping.
