Marbury is not using his common sense. He needs to stay before he embarrasses himself with another team. That offer is not insulting.

Marbury's trying to engage in public negotiations.

And he's a guy with poor PR skills.

This is unlikely to end well.

3 pages of replies and no one has gotten specific about the offer.

Ok so we offered him the Vet min, that comes out to a pay cut from last year right? What did we give him last year? I thought it was part of the MLE (obviously prorated.) I thought the idea was so that we could offer him the same deal, of about half the MLE again if we wanted to with out using the LLE. Hopefully someone here can clear this up.

I guess the question is, how much is Marbury worth to us? I think more than the min but probably not worth using 1 of the only 2 exceptions we have to net us a bench 3 and 5.

I remember hearing somewhere that we could have offered him up to 2.9 mil for a season..based on the prorated value of the last deal and % raise. I agree that he is somewhere between Vet Min and 2.7 mil and to get a former all star at that price should have been automatic.

This is pretty bad. Aside from Marbury, Which available PG is willing to take on a back-up role and is all-star caliber? No one, aside from AI (who is a team cancer), is. We've got to bring him back somehow, but for now, our first and second priorities are signing Rasheed and a legit back-up SF.

However, if he's gone, thank Christ.

this. I'm really thankful for marbs giving it his all on D and trying to be a facilitator, but after he outright refused an open shot from the wing against the bulls with time winding down to instead horribly force a pass down low to rondo? for an ugly rushed shot... marbury is done.

I declared myself done with Marbury and wanted him gone at that moment too, but I've softened my stance.

I had a similar moment when Antoine bricked one final layup against the Pacers in '04 or whenever, that was the last straw for me with him.

Marbury is not All-Star caliber. He simply is not a good player anymore, and really wasn't the kind who helped you win at any point of his career.

Fine, play overseas then. I'm sure a veteran free agent point guard who's likely a better player than you will more than appreciate the opportunity to have a roster spot on a contending team.

Ainge can look at these options...

CJ Watson
Anthony Carter
Tyronn Lue
Royal Ivey
Jacque Vaughn

AC is the ebst of that bunch, but do you see him leaving Denver? CJ is a good shooter, but not much of a point guard. The resy just don't do it for me.

What's all the fuss? At the end of the day Marbury will be back. This is all posturing for more money. Marbury doesn't have to sign right now, he will wait to see if the Celtics give him more money later. He will be back.
