Nuggets Summer League Roster

Post#1 » by eathy » Fri Jul 3, 2009 7:13 am

From roundball mining company:
No. Player Pos. Ht. Wt. Birthdate School/Country Exp.
8 Derrick Byars G/F 6-7 220 4/25/84 Vanderbilt R
7 Ronald Dupree F 6-7 209 1/26/81 LSU 5
12 C.J. Giles F/C 6-11 240 9/25/85 Oregon State R
6 Richard Hendrix F 6-9 255 11/15/86 Alabama R
22 Coby Karl G 6-5 215 3/6/83 Boise State 1
3 Ty Lawson G 5-11 195 11/3/87 North Carolina R
10 Kareem Rush G 6-6 215 10/30/80 Missouri 6
5 Cedric Simmons F 6-9 235 1/3/86 North Carolina State 3
13 Sonny Weems G/F 6-6 203 7/8/86 Arkansas 1

Update: Dupree and Hendrix are also playing for the Orlando Magic in the Orlando Summer League. If Orlando signs one or both to a contract they will not be playing for Denver.

Obviously we shouldn't get excited as this is a battle of scrubs...

but Coby Karl  , Kareem Rush, Derrick Byars are shooters which is something we could use. Richard Hendrix is someone to lookout for. Would've loved to see Bobby Jones added.

Too bad theres only one player taller than 6"10.

Can't wait to see Lawson and Weems in action. Lawson is probably only the true PG so he'll lodge in lots of minutes.

I actually thought Bobby Jones was a stud, but his head is not right... he should be.

Maybe we can find a new Dahntey Jones and not have to resign.

As for Coby Karl, he can be on the summer league team, but I hope they have no intentions of him coming to the regular training camp.

That would be a pretty big slap in the face to Weems if the Nuggets sign him and he gets minutes and Weems doesn't.

I was thinking the same thing when looked through the names. Hopefully they add a couple more big guys.

Chances are if they had a big guy on the summer team he wouldn't be able to contribute anything on an NBA team anyways. The Knicks summer league team has a couple big guys, Tskitisvilli and Sene, don't hold your breath. No big deal, in my opinion.

Outside of Lawson and Weems, the only player I am really interested in his Byars. If we deal LK (or let him walk), he would be a good 3rd string option to round out our roster.

Being from Arkansas and an SEC guy. Im very excited to watch weems play. But also to see what Byars has to offer in the NBA. I watched this guy play quite a bit and he is truly a great shooter

As far as summer league teams go, that's actually pretty decently talented group of guys.

Simmons was drafted pretty high a few years ago, but never got much of a shot. Hendrix was decent coming out of college last year. Maybe one of those guys can serve as our 5th big this year.

Rush has always had talent, but he's not exactly a good character guy. The only reason he is even on the team is because of the Mizzou connection with Kroenke's son. **** Coby Karl.

Richard Hendrix is dominating the summer league for Orlando.

I hope they don't sign him...

Simmons was with 4 teams during his rookie deal, I find it hard to believe that he has much talent if 4 different teams, pretty much all of whom need bigs when he was there, did not see any reason to play him.

Hendrix may be worth a look, we need a 6th big and he would probably come cheap.

I doubt Rush is any more the a summer league team invite.

The guy I want to see is Weems, the guy dd well in the D-league and was said to be a better defender then anything, he could easily be Jones replacement next season.

I hope to hell that Weems has been working on his jumpshot over the summer.

Seriously if u've got a good jumper on this team, then u're in the rotation.

After losing JOnes, Karl needs another effort guy, if Weems can provide that he does not even need a jumpshot.

After reading about them one of Hendrix and Giles could be our 6th big man, they both have talent, and may prove worthwhile.

i think they should have given elton brown a chance last year. he averaged 10ppg and 10rpg who knows if he could have made an impact last year.
