Joe Smith anyone

Post#1 » by snowman » Fri Jul 3, 2009 9:34 pm

Would Joe Smith be of any interest at this point now, considering the huge desire for his services at the end of last season ? I haven't heard his name brought up at all since season's end.

At least as a fall back plan if we don't get Wallace.

I think everyone wanted him last season because he was the best available. He's not the best available at the moment. I'm not interested unless Rasheed, McDyess, Pachulia, Nesterovic are no longer available.

I'd take him over Pachulia or Nesterovic. Dice I'd want a little bit more than Joe. Sheed is the one guy I think that will really put us over the top though.

If we only end up with Joe Smith I'd be very pissed.

This would be my order of guys to look at if Wallace doesn't end up in Boston.

Lamar Odom
Antonio McDyess
Chris Anderson
Zaza Pachulia
Rasho Nesterovic
Leon Powe
Chris Mihm
Drew Gooden
Joe Smith

I would not mind a backup big roation of Baby Dice and Joe smith, Smith can gaurd the big 3's so that can help us alot, but without those other 2 or someone of similer skill Joe Smith won't mean a title for us.

We have 4 big holes, Backup C, Backup PC, Backup big SF and backup Point.......two could be filled by the right player. IE smith can be a backup 3/4 Dice can be a backup 4 or 5 but you still need depth.

Whoever said it is right. Smith was a last resort last season because he was available. Get Sheed, however, and Smith makes less sense, unless we dump Baby. No Sheed, I would take a look, but it would not be a big enough splash to keep up with Orlando and Cleveland.

Celtics need a center and a mobile PF.

He'd be a decent secondary pickup, maybe LLE. For instance, if we were to get Marion with MLE instead of Rasheed, he'd be great. Actually, if we lose Big Baby, he'd make a great 4th big even with Wallace.

Is it possible to match an offer for Big Baby, sign Joe or someone similar to the LLE, then use the MLE on Marion.

This is all an idea IF we can't get Sheed. He's my number one option.

Perk 32 / Davis 16
KG 32 / Smith 16
Pierce 16 / Marion 32
Ray 32 / Pierce 16
Rondo 32 / Eddie 16

This looks pretty solid as well.
