Trade idea to get large trade exception

Post#1 » by 8305 » Sat Jul 4, 2009 2:35 pm

Put this idea on the trade board and got some positive feedback from all sides. What do you think?

Utah out AK47, Maynor, Miles
Utah in Trade exception (Denver) Tinsley, Ford

Denver out Trade exception
Denver in Foster

Indiana out Foster, Tinsley, Ford
Indiana in AK47, MIles, Maynor

By my calculations there is a pretty significant salary savings here. Think you should be able to resign Milsap with no luxury tax implications. Savings are significant enough you could buy out Tinsley and Ford would be a solid enough backup at pg to allow Williams to play some at the 2.

I don't see why Utah or Denver would do this...

It's basically Millsap and Ford and the Miller group saving 8-11mil or so from not paying the tax for AK, Maynor, and Miles.

I'd prefer to have Millsap and Ford, and I'm sure teh owners would like to save the cash. Seems like a good deal to me.

(I was thinking Harpring was included as well, this may not save enough money as constructed)
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

As constructed Jazz are sending out approx 21-22 mil bringing in 16 mil. I would think the Pacers would be fine with substituting Korver or Harpring for Miles. I was assuming since Harpring isn't guaranteed that Utah would want that savings for themselves. If Korver is inclued rather than Miles Utah saves another 2 mil the Pacers are 22mil in and 22 mil out.

It will be interesting to see what your ownership does with this situation. I don't know how unacceptable paying the luxury tax is to them. Clearly the suggested deal does not represnt value unless not making it means you lose Milsap. If Milsap is resigned I would be surprised if deals of this nature aren't investigated. Maybe someone else can do better.

Being that I am a Jazz fan but live in Denver I dont know why the Nuggs do this! Its almost unrealistic from their prospective. They are attempting to sign Bird-Man which will a key signing and then figure out what they want to do with Kleiza. As it stands today their team salary for 09-10 is around $66mil for 7 players (They also still own for McDyess and S. Hunter who's done) not including Kleiza, Anderson, or rookie Lawson. Foster and his 6m for 09-10 and 6.5m 10-11 isnt a needed position with Anderson and Nene. I dont see them wanting to add Foster to move Nene to PF either. They like what Nene gives them at the 5 position. K-Mart and his $15.3m (09-10)/16.5m(10-11) are too much $$$ for the Nuggs to just sit on the bench. He's shown signs of life in the past season and the team appears to have high hopes he'll get back on track next year.

That and the Nuggs have already handcuffed themselves with high dollar salaries that will continue to keep them over the cap for the next 2-3 seasons. Denver would likely rather have Tinsley or Ford in this trade. They need a 2nd experience PG and Lawson is a work in progress. I see the Nuggs being more interested in this trade if they could move Steven Hunters contract of the $3m they owe on McDyesses contract.
