Sporting News 1st power rankings for next season

Post#1 » by cfan79 » Sat Jul 4, 2009 2:29 pm

I don't know how they can make a power ranking already when trades and free agency isn't done. The Celtics currently have a pretty crappy bench. I'll give them that, but to put us at 7 is a slap in the face. Currently I'd only put LA, San Antonio and possibly Cleveland ahead of us. Then again this is the magazine that could only get 1 or 2 selections right from the draft.

Definitely NOT my power rankings

I really cannot think of anything more pointless than this right here.

Why? Because the rockets are ranked 8th even with the loss of Artest, Yao and Tmac coming of microfracture surgery?
Reggie stood out like a sore thumb no tattoos no agenda no chirping nothing Just a guy who could score at will He played college ball at Northeastern he replaced Larry as Celtics captain he belonged to Boston.
And I still miss him. Even now.

Yep and anyone talking about it giving it some sort of credit. FA signing hasn't even officially begun.

Honestly, I just wanted to see where Boston was slotted (WOW!) Then went to the top and started checking out #1 through well... #3. Then stopped reading.

Washington is too high on the list. They do have a much better bench thanks to their recent draft trade, but I'd put many teams ahead of them. (Spurs, C's, Magic, Nuggets)

Washington? Isn't that some kind of typo or something? They add a couple of decent guys in Foye/Miller, and maybe Arenas gets healthy, and that's supposed to take them from the worst record in the conference to top 3?

I mean, they'd might as well throw the Clippers in the top 5.

Washington should have a decent team and make the playoffs, if everything comes together they could get a 4 seed or so, best case scenario.

They screwed up IMO, they had a chance to add a lottery pick to a pretty good veteran core - instead they piss it away for some role players.

It also sounds like they forgot that Garnett will be back.

Return to Boston Celtics
