Report: Ex-Ravens QB Steve McNair Shot To Death
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CBS) ―

Former Ravens quarterback Steve McNair has been killed. Police said McNair suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville. Police said it looked like a double homicide. A female victim was also found dead, reports CBS station WJZ-TV in Baltimore.

Police said it looked like a double homicide. A female victim was also found dead. Details were still unfolding.

McNair retried from the game last year after playing with the Baltimore Ravens.

The 35-year-old McNair guided the Ravens to a 13-3 record in 2006, his first season in Baltimore after 11 years in Tennessee. But he injured his groin during the season opener last season and never regained the form that enabled him to earn a berth in four Pro Bowls.

McNair began his career in 1995 with the Houston Oilers, who eventually became the Tennessee Titans. He led the team to four playoff appearances, including the Super Bowl after the 1999 season. He was named co-MVP of the league in 2003, sharing the award with Peyton Manning, after throwing for 3,215 yards and 24 touchdowns with only seven interceptions.

McNair fought injuries during the latter part of his career with Tennessee and was dealt to the Ravens in June 2006 for a fourth-round draft pick. He signed a five-year contract.

Wow...what a sad, sad story, He was once a great QB...his performance as a Black QB in a league that didn't have many helped pave the way for guys like McNabb to be given a legit shot in the league. What a shockingly sad story. RIP Air McNair.

I loved watching him play. RIP.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

It's sounding like a murder/suicide.

This makes me think it isn't:

Police said the 36-year-old McNair was found on the sofa in the living room, and Kazemi was very close to him on the floor. Aaron said the gun was not "readily apparent" when police first arrived.

Ahh. I was just going from Mort's twitter:

McNair shot multiple times, including head shot; lady had a single shot to head with gun near her body, spokesman says.

What about those reports is making you think it's not a murder/suicide?

I'm guessing the lady's body was on top of the gun or something, or it flew out of her hand under a bed or couch.

I had heard the gun was found under her, but that might have changed since the last time I heard anything.

Sounds like the girlfriend bought the gun last Thursday. Its a sad ending for sure, especially with McNair's character being tarnished a bit (if all holds true what is currently said). If the wife ends up being legitimately oblivious to everything, I feel the worst for her. She loses her husband AND finds out he was cheating around. That has to be crushing, and the kids are now fatherless. I guess she is probably a wealthy lady, if that is any consolation.

Its unfortunate for sure though.

Yeah, that's gotta be such a horrible thing for her to be going through - obviously she's devastated her husband was killed, but add on top of that she finds out that he was with this other girl. Wow, I feel awful for her...
