What do you think about this AK47 trade idea?

Post#1 » by Shocker00 » Wed Jul 1, 2009 4:59 am

Utah trades:
Ak47
Future 2nd round pick
Utah gets:
Tyson Chandler

Phoenix trades:
Ben Wallace
Phoenix gets:
AK47
Future 2nd round pick

New Orleans trades:
Tyson Chandler
Devin Brown
New Orleans get:
Ben Wallace

Reason Utah does this because:
They get a shot blocking defensive player and save almost 5 million this year. (utah is over the cap)

Reason Phoenix does this because:
Ak47 would fit in real well with the type of game phoenix plays. They also pick up a 2nd round pick.

New Orleans does this because:
They get a 14 million dollar expiring contract. NO is way over the Luxury tax. There looking for expiring contracts.

There has been rumors that Phoenix is planning on flipping Wallace for Chandler. I figured if the Jazz can get involved some how they can save 5 mill off of the luxury tax. This also gives us a defensive presence in the middle. When Okur and Boozer play at the same time our interior defense sucks! We can play Chandler when Boozer is in the game.

no way in hell Phoenix touches this. they are trying to cut salary and getting one of the most overpaid players in nba while giving up an expiring doesn't fit their plan. great for Jazz though.

Theres rumors all over the place that Phoenix might flip Wallace to the Hornets for Chandler. This doesnt make sense if Phoenix is trying to save money because Chandler is overpaid as well. But for now im going by some of the more popular rumors and trying to throw Kirilenko in the mix to a team that he would fit there style of play.

The only problem with this then we would have 4 big men that all deserve about 30 minutes a game. We would have move someone for a back court player.

The best I have seen so far with the AK scenarios is:

Bulls trade: Deng, filler
Suns trade: Sasha, J-Rich
Jazz trade: AK, and Almond.

Bulls get: J-rich
Suns get: AK47, and Almond
Jazz get: Deng, and filler.

I love these trade ideas that have one player just disappearing.

Not to mention players that aren't on the roster anymore (Almond, Sasha).

Since we are dreaming in a fantasy world...

If this hypothetical trade could go down. I say Utah then flips Boozer to Detriot for RIP. Moves Memo to the 4 as a stop gap for Paul.

Deron - Maynor
RIP - Korver
Brewer - CJ
Memo - Sap
Chandler - Kosta - Fes

I spoke with my Bro In-Law tonight and he mentioned that KO suggested that the Jazz have had trade talks with the Suns. And he also said that there is a rumor that involves the Jazz sending AK47 and Boozer to the Suns for Amare and JRich. Any truth to the rumors?

Well as much I love Okur the Jazz cant win with a starting front court of him and Boozer, someone has to play D right?

I think we should go after Chandler to get a decent defensive presence.

What about Chandler & Butler for Okur & Harpring.

Or in a three way with Phoenix.

Utah:
Receive Chandler & Butler
Send: Okur & Harpring

NO:
Receive: Wallace
Send: Chandler & Butler

Phoenix:
Receive: Okur & Harpring
Send: Wallace

Ideally:
Sign Millsap for 6 yr / 50.5 M (starting at 7M + 8% raises)
Sign Price for 2 yr / 2.5 M (1.2 + 1.3)

Utah Lineup:
Williams/ Maynor/ Price (UFA)
Brewer / Korver / Butler
Miles / Kirilenko
Boozer / Millsap (RFA)
Chandler / Koufos / Fesenko

I like this, don't know if you guys will:

GS:
Trades: Corey Maggette, Speedy Claxton
Receives: Kirilenko

Utah:
Trades: Kirilenko
Receives: Corey Maggette, Speedy Claxton

Why for GS? We need big men that can run, and play defense, AK will be a great fit in Nelson's offense. Maggette can't co-exist with Jackson, plus Nelson has him playing the 4. Surprisingly he defended well at the 4, but we don't need him to play the 4, especially considering his contract.

Why for Utah? Utah needs another player that can be a scorer, and Maggette provides that along with veteran experience (avg 18.6 ppg, 5.5 rebound last season, while coming off the bench). He creates his own shot and has shot a career 45% from the field and gets to the line very often (as much as Wade). Speedy's contract is $5Mil in expiring and if he doesn't play then insurance will pay for 80% of the costs. I can definitely see Maggette thriving in Utah.

Since they have nearly identical contracts, if the Grizzlies made the same proposal for Kirilenko as they did for Randolph would you all be interested? It would make it much easier to keep Millsap.

The Jazz can't win with Boozer and Okur? And Chandler would help? Then why was NO awful with Chandler and West and Paul?

Well there did finish with a better record than us :)

Though the Hornets were 30-15 when Chandler played.

I should also clarify I meant we cant win a championship with those two starting.

Benefits to trade:
> They will both be in the last year of their respective contracts
> Chandler is available. How often are legit defensive bigs available?
> Both players fit a huge need.
> Chandler is a defensive minded centre who can run the pick and roll.
> Butler is a defensive minded wing who has shot .371 on three for his career and .390 last year.

Dont get me wrong Okur is the most talented player in the trade but I think the deal brings alot more balance to our team. Note: I would prefer to trade either Boozer or Kirilenko but I dont think we get as much value back as in this trade.

Would there be any interest in a Redd/Ridnour for Kirilenko/Korver deal?

Possibly...Ridnour would answer our backup PG and Redd would be a good upgrade at the 2. Redd is getting old and just coming off an injury but its not a bad sounding deal. Would it save the Jazz any money?

The Jazz already got enough money from the Knicks when we robbed Isiah with the trade in the first place. We don't want to be greedy.

Return to Utah Jazz
