Why isn't Marion in the discussion for our team?
If he's supposedly going to sign somewhere for the MLE, why not here? Why not Marion instead of Sheed? I understand he's an undersized PF, but he's also a great SF and we do need athleticism and hes younger. IMO he would fill the backup SF and PF slots perfectly. I honestly haven't watched him in a while though, so if his athleticism has declined then I retract my statement.
"I have conflicted feelings right now. I mean its great and all, and no way I'd change it, but does anyone else kinda feel that we got luckier than we deserved to get? It almost feels like we're the benefactor of some NBA conspiracy."

I'd love to have him here, and he has been talked about plenty on this board. I think that the size of the Lkaers and our top conference opponents has the FO thinking size, though.

Re: Why isn't Marion in the discussion for our team?
This is why it would be nice to get an answer from Sheed as early as possible.
I dont think Marion is a likely signing, but if he is being forced into MLE offers he is surely worth a call, he would realistically be able to reduce the minutes of all of the big 3 and play considerable minutes himself in the process.
would also allow us to sign and trade Davis for a true 5 or a point guard if we needed to
Heard Toronto may still look at bringing him back, the Cavs have interest too (which would be bad for us)
He would be nice to have to use against Lebron, Shard, Turk, Marvin ,Beasley and the other Tweener forwards in the East.. aswell as a great counter to Artest and Odom in LA

Re: Why isn't Marion in the discussion for our team?
Marion is looking for more than the MLE. He is going to need a S&T to make it happen, and just a guess that Collangelo tries to take care of him if there is some value in it for him.
Marion is only 30 not 34 he is looking for a big contract and starting job on a contending team. If that can't happen then Boston could be an option.
But as far as Marion vs Sheed, Sheed fits what Boston needs a lot more than Marion. Sheed is a better offensive player and shooter, he can create his own shots as well as find his teamates that isn't Marion's game. Sheed is a 4/5 which is what this team is lacking we have options for the few mins at the SF behind Pierce. With Wallace in for Perk we lose little defensively and pick up a different component on offense. Marion forces KG to the 5, not something he is a fan of, and while he can play some great defense against SF's he isn't a standout defender at the PF spot. In then end he would be like having Posey, probably better but expensive.

And remember that Marion REFUSED to join Celtics when Ainge want to trade #5 to Phoenix.
I think that broken Ainge's heart.

I think it has something to do with a few years ago when he refused to go to Boston before we traded for KG.
