What's wrong with the Mets?

Post#1 » by Flash3 » Mon Jun 29, 2009 5:27 pm

Seems like they are in a lull right now, and have been in for some time, and are losing players left and right to injuries. -- What player(s) do they need to get in order to solidify their spot in the NL East?

Missing Beltran, Reyes and Delgado is HUGE.

I can't believe their record isn't much worse.

The fact that they're still in 2nd and only 2.5 out with all that has happened to them is pathetic for the rest of the division. At least if the Mets stay in 2nd they can't choke away the lead this year.

This. Missing your best hitter, from an average standpoint, is huge. Especially with how they struggled against the Yanks pitching this weekend.

IMO, someone in the NL East needs to make a move or two to separate them from the rest of the pack.

The Marlins, Mets and Phillies are separated by a game or two.

It's too bad the Braves missed out on Adam Dunn because they'd easily be cruising in 1st place right now. Instead we lose all momentum against the **** Nats like always.

They have never really had any kind of decent rotation during Omar's tenure as GM. They've had a #1 & a bunch of back end rotation guys.

They've never had a number 2. They have a Livan Hernandez who is servicable but should be a 4. They should have gone after Lowe last offseason, that would have been a good signing, albeit an expensive one.

Exactly & Glavine was their "Ace" before Santana but in all honesty he should have been their #2 but they lacked a real ace. Their farm system is awful too so they can't trade for a #2 now nor can they expect any of their prospects to become #2's anytime soon.

bahahahahaha who the **** trades anyone of value for Jeff Francoeur? Even in a lousy year Church is still doing way better.

I'm surprised Church was the one traded and not Daniel Murphy. Now the Mets have Francoeur, who can't hit, and Daniel Murphy, who can't field, manning the bench.

It only proves some more than spending all the $ in the world can only do so much. If you look at some of the teams that went on spending sprees of sorts, with the NY Mets being one of them the last 2-3 years with Santana and K-Rod, it's getting them so little in return with the holes all around due to injuries and such.
