What PG's are available for our small expiring contracts?

Let's be optimistic and assume that we secure both Rasheed Wallace and Grant Hill. The only piece missing from having an absolutely stellar 8-man rotation is a backup PG. Who could we get for Scals or TA or Pruitt or some combination?

Does somebody like Keyon Dooling fall out of the Net's rotation now that they have Skip to my Lou?

I still wish we could keep Marbury...I think he would be great with a full training camp and preseason under his belt.

IDK..I guess if nobody wants him, he'll probably have to accept our previous offer, and be back next year. But I'm sure somebody will offer him more than us. Hopefully not...a Rondo+Marbury PG combo would be the best in the league IMO.

Why can't hill play the backup point position. In other words be a point forward.

We can play
House
Allen
Hill
Baby
Sheed

and make it work. Hill's ball handling is what makes Hill most valuable as a player to the Celtics IMO. Also great spacing in that lineup. The only guy who can't shoot is TA. :lol:

Well, Marbury would be my first choice as well. He's talented beyond the normal min-contract player. However, my assumption is that we won't be able to retain him. Having said that, I'd prefer to trade for somebody using our expiring contracts rather than signing some other random vet-min guy like Tyronn Lue. I just don't know who would be available. Does any team have a glut of PGs? Are there any teams that are blowing up that just want to get out from under a contract or two?

If Sheed and Grant Hill are coming to Boston I'd rather just sign Marbury to the 3 million he wants and keep Scal, Tony, and Pruitt until the trade deadline.

If not than we can get Kirk Hinrich from Chicago with Scal, Tony, Gabe. Not saying Chicago does this but the contracts work. I think Chicago thinks their our rival now or something so they wouldn't want to help us out.

I think its likely that BBD won't return as a Celtic and will probably go to SA. They might package TA aswell but that's all speculation at this point. I'm sure Hill would be a pretty good point forward but I'd like to see Marbury return with a training camp.

Yeah especially if they can practice their jumpshots like crazy during the offseason we'd be set with a strong 8 man rotation.

Charlotte has some PG's and their thinking about signing Iverson.

That's not an option. We can't give Marbury $3 million.

There is no reason that with House, TA, and Hill we can't get the ball up the floor. Rondo will get a lot of minutes, but if he gets injured a guy like Lue as a vet PG could be insuranse. We will probably wait to see what we have in SL this week as we seem to have brought in quite a few guards.

I mentioned this in the Veal/TA thread, but if we could get Beno Udrih that'd be nice.. and good insurance in case anything happens to Rondo at any point. Veal/TA/Pruitt makes the salaries match.. but it is full midlevel for 4 more years he's owed.

Rondo is becoming one of the best PG's in the league. He will be playing about 36-38 minutes a game. That only leaves 10-12 minutes a game for his back up. Marbury would not settle for that. PLus Marbury wanted more money than we were offering him.

The good news is that we already have a backup PG to play the 10-12 minutes behind Rondo. House and Lester Hudson. Hudson will suprise a lot of people once given the chance.

Starbury would be ideal but Brevin Knight is another guy that comes to mind. With the addition of Sheed and potentially Grant Hill, Knight doesn't have to do a whole lot other than bringing up the ball and distributing the ball. The guy can do the job.

Damn, if Gabe Pruitt steps up his game, this won't be a concern.
