Re: Big Baby Davis
no way... gotta keep him, we cant rely on Sheed, KG and Perk to just be a 3 man rotation
unless someone offers him something crazy like 5 mil + we have to re-sign him
sign and trade could definitely come into the equation now though

Will Boston have enough cap space to sign Dyess & BBD?

We need to dump Scalabrine somewhere. Just do it for a conditional second rounder if we can work him into any deals.

Re: Big Baby Davis
Will Big Baby honestly want to sit as the 2nd big guy off the bench after starting during the playoffs and playing pretty good? Or would he rather go somewhere else like San Antonio or Orlando and be a starter or sixth man?

Re: Big Baby Davis
Not sure, i expect both will make calls to him and he will definitely listen
will depend on money/years more then anything because we will match any low ball offer for him

^^^ Good question, but that is Ainge's decision seeing davis a restricted and we can match any offer.

we can match the offer, so it's not his choice.
if it's like $3mil per, we will almost certainly match, and then maybe try to trade him during the season. or just keep him as the 4th big.

Re: Big Baby Davis
Why would we keep him? Sheed is a better option at the 4 or 5, both for floor spacing purposes and defensively. In fact we've already got a chubby, non-rebounding, jump-shooting big man locked up at 3.4 mil in Scal.
IMHO, Sheed replaces Baby's role. If we're going to add another big it should be a replacement for Powe: a rebounder who lives for garbage buckets.

Re: Big Baby Davis
I think people are overrating Davis' value on the market.
He is valuable to us because he knows the system and Doc knows what he can expect from Davis. As a 4th big he is a solid fit. However, he still can't rebound, he is only an OK shooter, and he is physically overmatched by most NBA players (slow for the 4 and short at the 5). That sounds like an "OK" 4th big man, which is what he is and what he will be paid as. I seriously doubt he gets more than 3 million, probably closer to Tony Allen's 2 years, 2 million.

Re: Big Baby Davis
if thats the case I think Danny should give Joe Smith a call. Rasheed is likely going to get all the backup minutes at the 4 and 5. We need a guy who can fill in if there is foul trouble and won't put up a stink about limited minutes.

Writing on the wall for Baby at this point. Strongly doubt we will match anything.

Re: Big Baby Davis
Joe Smith and Dyess both have to be worth a call for the minimum if Davis skips town
Sweetney being on the SL roster will become even more interesting if we lose our current big boy

Re: Big Baby Davis
If we sign Hill we should be able to play substantial minutes at PF (similar to Posey). KG/Perk/Wallace with Hill filling in 5-10 minutes at PF should be enough. Of course, more depth is always good if you get it cheap.
