Would you consider this deal?

Post#1 » by DowJones » Sun Jul 5, 2009 11:46 pm

This is assuming that the reports are true and you guys aren't looking to spend money this year.

Cleveland sends $3 million, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, and JJ Hickson to you guys and a 2010 1st to Utah. You give a future 2nd to Utah. Utah gives Cleveland Carlos Boozer.

So Cleveland is essentially giving you JJ Hickson to take Z off of our hands. Z, of course, is an expiring contract. Plus Cleveland is shipping out $3 million so the cost of Z's 2009-2010 salary for you guys is about $8 million. And i am sure Z would take a buy-out and return to Cleveland, thus saving you guys even more money.

So Cleveland would be giving you JJ Hickson in order for you to help us facilitate a deal where we get Carlos Boozer.

If we were 1 or 2 years further along, then I'd be cool with that deal. Z is a quality center now and could help a good bit. The problem is, in another year or two when we're looking to make our run at it, Krstic will have a similar game and probably be playing at a higher level than an older Ilgauskas... We've got a lot of players and prospects at the 4 and I'm not specifically excited about Hickson.

^ illgauskas expires this year. the idea is that okc facilitates the trade and ends up with hickson. illgauskas would probably be bought out.

Yeah, definitely with the team we have and as old as he is, he'd be outta here. But, I think that he'd actually be a fairly valuable piece if we were a lot closer.

Definitely no reason to spend a good chunk of cap space and ~$8 mil just for Hickson though...

I'm not a big fan of Z right now. If it would give us more cap room next summer then go for it I guess. Hickson, like someone said, is a 4 and we have plenty of those. Plus, would the Cavs want Boozer back or vice versa?

it wouldn't give okc more cap room next summer, it'd actually give them less since hickson would be on the books.
