Should we redo Cutler's deal now?

With us being way under the cap this year and not looking at really spending a whole lot more should we redo Cutler's deal now rather than later?

Per Wiretap

Chicago Sun-Times - The Bears remain $17.67 million under their adjusted salary-cap figure of $135.9 million, which means the organization has committed 86.99 percent of its cap to this point and there is plenty of room left over for spending.

Plaxico Burress is an unlikely option due to the penalty coming his was from the NFL.

This could become the perfect window for Chicago to come to a long term agreement with Jay Cutler.

Cutler remains under contract for three more seasons, but he has a $12 million roster bonus in 2012 that the team would probably like to avoid.

If we're not planning on picking anyone else up before the start of the season, then why not? Front load the hell of his deal (which is beneficial to Jay as well) so we've got some more to spend later on down the line... though Cliff Levingston isn't exactly sure how the NFL salary cap rules work.

Yes, we should give him the big contract now. Soak up as much of this year's cap as possible, giving ourselves room to soak up mid level free agents next year in the uncapped offseason. I'm feeling this team no longer has a "window" but rather is going to move amongst the "relevant" teams that are always in contention. I'm sure JA gets something done near the start of the season.

I agree Cliff. We want this guy long-term, and we have the cap space available, so if we're not going to add anyone else we should try and work out a new deal for Cutler. Front loading the deal would make it easier and open up more cap space to spend on upgrading the team in the next few years.
