Re: Goran Suton profile
Very interesting pick. I really haven't seen him play at all so I don't know what to think but from his highlights and from what Ive read he seems to be a solid pick in the second round that has a possibility to develop into a solid backup or 3rd center.

No way this guy plays 1 game in the NBA. Greg Foster without the talent. He can hit an open 15-20 footer on occasion but cannot rebound, move, or play defense.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Based on his stats he looks like a decent rebounder.

Re: Goran Suton profile
Look at his stats in the tournament. The guy can play, he doesn't put up huge numbers but that's not what he is suppose to do. Look at his line from the Championship game going against Tyler, I wouldn't write this guy off as a nobody who cant play. He could be an upgrade over Collins at best but whats wrong with that?

Re: Goran Suton profile
Statistically Suton is similar to Collins in college.
Collins: http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... ija03.html

seriously anything that's an upgrade from Collins is better IMO

Re: Goran Suton profile
Here's my scouting report: A slow, white jump shooting big man for whom we have absolutely no need. I don't like this pick. We already have two jump shooting white big men in Memo and Koufos, who are both vastly, vastly superior players. Then we have Fesenko, who's a much, much better athlete, rebounder and defender. That's not even to mention Collins. As much as I've complained about him over the years and would probably prefer that the Jazz let him go, I'd rather keep him than give Suton a roster spot. At least we know that Collins is a solid defender.

Reminds me of Potapenko.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

He was well coached in college and played well in high pressure games. I'm not going to complain that they should have drafted someone else I haven't heard of either.

If you complain about a pick, especially a second-rounder, you'd better say who you'd have picked instead...

Was it the 3-point shooting that made you think of Ostertag? Or the face-up game?
Seriously, what about this guy's game (not appearance) reminds you of Ostertag?

Re: Goran Suton profile
I was hoping Dumars would take him with one of Detroit's 2nd rounders and convince him to play over seas for a year or two (so we could retain his rights without taking up one of the 15 roster spots) but he didn't make the move.
He plays hard, can rebound and hit the 15-20 ft jumper and battles on defense.
Doesn't have "NBA Athleticism" but could certainly be a roll player a few years down the road IMO.

Re: Goran Suton profile
I don't think people were thinking about him as an NBA prospect until he did so well in the tournament against other NBA talents.
First round vs. Robert Morris: 17 Rebounds
2nd Round vs. USC: Completely shut down Taj Gibson, holding him to 2 points, I think.
3rd Round vs. Kansas: Nullified Cole Aldrich with a similar output (20 pts. 9 reb. 5 steals)
4th Round vs. Louisville: Helped MSU control tempo, 19pts. 10 reb. 4 assists
5th Round vs. UConn: Got in foul trouble, Thabeet ended up with 17pts. (6-13) 6 reb.
Finals vs. UNC: Game was never close. He was the only contributer w/ 17pts. 11 reb. against Hansbrough
All in all, a really impressive showcase against a lot of Cs and PFs that ended up 1st round draft picks (and 1 that will be next year). I'm still skeptic that he can contribute on the NBA level, but if he keeps up what he started in the tourney, he could do it.

Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Re: Goran Suton profile
Got bored and wondered what you guys were saying about this guy. Went to MSU, and have watched G play for 4 years.
The guy has a ton of skill and is smart, though maybe lacking in athelticism. Good passer. Good possition rebounder (led the B11). He has a nice back to the basket game, can pick and pop and even put it on the floor for a few hoops (even though his success to TO ratio on dribble penetration was not very good). He was also a very good college defender.... even against some of the more talented guys. He just always was in the right position. He's not exactly a stiff, but not super athletic either. I think that will be the issue... if he can keep up with the speed of the NBA. He actually reminds me a lot of your boy Okur.
I hope he does well for ya'll.
