Thanks for the box score. And yeah it was impressive to see McRoberts, Price, Hibbert, and Psycho T play well today, let's go guys! Take this into the regular season.

I'll just quote what I wrote in the following thread:

viewtopic.php?f=23&t=923774

Tyler Hansbrough -
Was surprisingly quick with his moves on offense elevation when given time to gather is good (threw down two nice dunks, one on a fastbreak the other on a backdoor cut). Great hands, footwork, fundamentals. Good form on jumper, nice array of post moves. Good strength but had trouble elevating in traffic. Some awkward off-balance finishes that would have been blocked against more athletic competition. Though his intensity was good, Tyler slowed down as the game progressed and was never much of a factor on the boards.

It's one game and it's only summer league, but the game did give a better idea of what parts of Tyler's game will and won't translate to the NBA.

I hate giving predictions but if I had to, I think the Pacers are looking at a smarter Big Baby.

Hopefully, we can see Derrick Byars and Aaron Jackson next game - cuz Trey Johnson and Will Blalock sucked.

I agree...Will was very hard to watch and the fact that he played more then AJ is even harder to swallow

Yes I do realize it's only a summer league game. I'm just having some fun.

He's exactly what I thought he was. No surpises there.

Rush shot terribly. 4-18? Really?

Hibbert does not look good in fast-paced, streetball-like forums such as summer league. Speights ate him alive.

I like the way Tyler and McBob are going at it...we really have a chance to get two high-caliber hustle stars via the competition and capitalism that is an NBA rotation.

NetsForce- Thanks for the description. Did you actually go to the game or you posting from what you saw online?

I agree with everything you wrote, except the part that he wore down. I totally disagree. I watched it online so maybe i was a little off on my opinion, but he started very poorly to me. Offensively he was nowhere and on defense he looked to be a bit slow as well. I thought late 1st half he came on strong and started to show signs, although overall wise i still wasn't too impressed (you gotta understand, i am maybe this boards biggest Hansbrough hater), however in the 2nd half he kept doing what he did right in the 1st half and it translated to points and nice plays. I thought as the game got later, and it was coming down the stretch, Hansbrough just kept playing better and better.

For a hater like myself, today was a very good showing by him. His free throw shooting aside, i thought his offensive rebounding was very weak. I don't know if it was just he wasn't used to the NBA players being better positioned or if he was just out-powered, but each time we missed a shot and he was fighting for the rebound, it seemed like even if the guy who got the ball didn't get it, somebody else on the other team still would have gotten it before Hansbrough.

Just a random thought, i thought Holiday was awful. He took so many bad shots and missed alot. Brandon Rush also missed a ton of shots.

Out of players i was most impressed with was McRoberts. He looks very much improved.

Hibbert didn't look that well IMO. His defense was poor and he lost so many balls.... the ball just didn't stick to his hands.

And where in the world did they find Will Blalock from? He was horrible. I mean, bad shots, stupid passing, poor defense... i mean, they could have had somebody from realgm go out there and do a better job. I hope we just send him home now. Give all the minutes to AJ Price

Will Blalock was eerily similar to Tinsley. The only thing missing was 30 pounds of fat and a bottle of sleeping pills.

Lol at Blalock and Tinsley. He had one bad game, give him another chance and see what happens. I think he'll snap out of it, he really is a good player.

Eh, even if he scores 30 next game, not sure i will be too impressed. He has no chance of making this team. I forgot to write about AJ Price in my original post. I was very impressed with him. Mike Wells from Indy Star believes Price may give Diener a run for his money. That will be interesting. Price looked very good and calm today. He looked quick too. I didn't think he could play at this level. UConn plays a weird system but he didn't appear like a rookie.

@ Granger05- thanks for the link! Good read from TrueHoop.

Glad to see most of our young guns looked pretty good. I don't really expect Hibbert to wow in the summer league, he's much more suited for a slower game where a system is run.

Haha no, like you I was watching the game online. Last year I actually recorded the games with some crappy free software I found online and made highlights, but I didn't have time to do that for this game

I think you're dead on with his rebounding, I didn't quite know how to express it in words but I completely agree with you. Though Tyler hustled for the ball he seemed to be consistently beat to rebounds.

I partially attributed this to him "wearing down" but I think this will be something to keep an eye on, as this could be what scouts were really getting at when they were questioning his "athleticism" pre-draft.

I wish I saw the Magic-Thunder game though, there were some interesting prospects playing in that game (Livingston, Ibaka, etc.)

edit:

As for AJ Price I thought he looked good in his short stint. Compared to some of the other players out there (notably Jrue freaking Holiday) Price played a more disciplined game; I'm sure he did force some shots but nothing seemed terribly out of place with his shot selection, which was a nice change of pace from the standard summer league crap...

(Reminded me a bit of Jaycee Carroll from the Nets SL team last year. Dude never made the team, but it was rumored he would have had the Nets had the roster spot AND he did not get offered a nice contract overseas)

Anybody found any pictures from the game? I'm curious to see if McBob actually added all of this weight that he is supposed to have added.

Final thought on Game 1 - there is no way that Hibbert should be matched up against Speights... ever (OK... ever in a real game - summer league is OK, but do you really need to practice something that is impossible?). Coach needs to protect him in match ups.
