OKC/LAC Trade Idea

Post#1 » by SportsFan215 » Fri Jul 3, 2009 1:32 am

Kaman/Thornton for Green/Watson/Wilkins

Why for LAC? They are trying to cut post-2010 money, while getting a good young player.

Why for OKC? They get the productive center that they need to take the next step. If David Lee or Millsap ends up signing with the Thunder look at this lineup:

Westbrook/Atkins/Livingston
Harden/Thabo/Weaver
Durant/Thornton
(Lee or Millsap)/Collison/White
Kaman/Kristic/Mullens

That is a sick lineup.

i'd do it but only if we got millsap / lee and we could shoot for playoffs or close to it. kaman comes off the books the year durant's extension kicks in and he'd be gone by the time westbrook's ready to start his, it'd be good timing salary wise.

No, no, a thousand times no. You can get a lot more for Jeff Green and 9 million in expiring deals than an oft injured center (Kaman) and an absolute gunner (Thorton).

Camby/Thornton could be had for Green/Watson, but I thought the Thunder would rather last past just next year for a center.

I'm not saying that Kaman isn't a good player when he's healthy, because he is a very nice player when he is right. What I was saying was that you don't need to give up Green to get him. I also want nothing to do with Al Thorton. That guy couldn't spell shot selection. If you could get Kaman for a cheaper price, I would definitely be onboard with it; but I don't think that the Clippers move him now that Z-Bo is on to Memphis.

I know this is kind of out there, but how about this deal?

Knicks Get: Thornton/Watson
Knicks Give: Lee (S&T)

The Knicks get a PG and a young player in return for Lee, who they might lose for nothing.

Thunder Get: Kaman/Lee (S&T)
Thunder Give: Green/Watson/Wilkins

The Thunder get their frontcourt for the future handed to them in a package deal.

Clippers Get: Green/Wilkins
Clippers Give: Kaman/Thornton

^ Oh that's right. I wonder if it would work if Watson went to LAC and Wilkins to NYK? Or even Watson and Wilkins could both go to LAC.

Not sure I understand... If the Thunder wanted to pay Lee, then why wouldn't the Thunder just make an offer for him? I don't think the Knicks will match anything at the salary that is demanding.

What else would OKC be looking for in a Kaman/Thornton for Green/Watson/WIlkins? Thornton could be sent to a third team that values him more. If that's the case, what kind of player would the Thunder be looking for in return? A Veteran? What position?
