I think Marcus Williams is going to end up making the Grizzlies and yes he was signed to the summer league team. He was currently playing in Puerto Rico in there professional league with the Quebradillas Piratas. Last night he played his last game in the playoff because of being signed to the summer league team. He played pretty good down there and he's in good shape I see him making the team he has too much talent to not make it.

He started 25 games in 07/08

11/3/5 40% 3pt

The team just views him as too poor defensively to be a long term starter. A slightly worst Luke Ridnour. Doesn't do anything to hurt/excite you

Only reason I offered him is Riley seems high on Patrick Beverly who we just drafted and we're a little over the Lux tax. Quinn for an exception would get us back below.

why don't they have fan night each game and let one fan be the backup PG each game rather than have some guy like Marcus Williams who should be in YMCA league only?

Quinn as a slightly worse Ridnour? As a longtime Seattle fan that statement makes me cringe.

I know Conley clearly has the reigns, but in my opinion this team still needs an upgrade at pointguard. I said the same thing this time last year. Ramon Sessions would be on my radar.

Conley should get around 36 minutes per game, leaving 12 minutes for a decent backup.

I suppose I should revisit the thread where a Celtics fan suggested the Grizzlies take on the combined shorterm contracts of Gabe Pruitt and Tony Allen at a combined $3.3mil. I'm not sure how it works but if they give up Buckner's contract and Boston buys him out it saves a couple of million for Boston does it not? Maybe I'm wrong.

Pruitt could be the third pointguard behind Conley and Mayo(who could easily, and should, get playing time at the point), and Allen fills in as the hardnosed defensive veteran at backup shooting guard(early in his career he played a bit at pointguard as well if I recall correctly).

Really it doesn't make a big impact but it is a bit of a consolidating thing that might work and give some depth at a reasonable price for a one year lease.

As for other suggestions, you would think since there were so many pointguards drafted this year that some of the older ones might get pushed out of their respective teams. I think the Grizzlies should do what I wanted them to do before they traded for Randolph. Sit back, be patient, and wait players out. It's beginning to look like a different summer for free agents than usual. Teams aren't rushing to throw gobs of money at them(other than Hedo). A good experienced pointguard, or comboguard just might fall into their lap at the right price.

With LA officially resigning Shannon Brown today, I think Farmar is definitely up for grabs for nothing except space.

I would definitely make a trade for Farmar. He would be a solid backup for the Grizzlies. At under $2mil, plus a qualifying amount next year he is a fit both in terms of talent, money, and length of contract. But for those very reasons I don't see the Lakers doing it. Afterall, Derek Fisher is no spring chicken.

$$
LA needs to get Odom resigned. LA has to Aug 1 to decide on Sun Yue at 736k, so he'd take Farmar's roster slot and allow more money toward to Odom.

LA would go with Fisher/Brown/Yue, plus there's talk they'll go with Kobe at the 1 sometimes and Artest at the 2.

Very do-able.
