2009-10 PHX Suns starting lineup
Okay guys, In today's AZcentral Amare stated that he would play center this year. With the drop in the salary cap, we know we aren't getting (and shouldn't want) Tyson Chandler. So what do you guys want as a starting lineup. You can add Frye and/or Hill if you like, because that is about the ONLY thing we will do this off-season. So here is my hopeful lineup.
Nash/Dragic
JRich/LB/Tucker
Hill/Dudley/Clark
Frye/Lou/Clark/Amare
Amare/Lopez/Frye
Go Suns!!!
Nash/Dragic
JRich/LB/Tucker
Hill/Dudley/Clark
Frye/Lou/Clark/Amare
Amare/Lopez/Frye
Go Suns!!!

If Hill isn't here, I want
Nash/Dragic
JRich/LB
Clark/Duds
Frye/Lou
Amare/Lopez
Spurs signed McDyes, so we should have a better shot at Frye.

They're clearly going to be cutting costs, and i HOPE they look at Chris Wilcox and Marquis Daniels for min/portions of the MLE/cheap deals like Barnes got
Wilcox/RoLo/Lou
Amare/Frye/Lou/Clark
Daniels/Dudley/Clark
JRich/Barbosa
Nash/Dragic
Cut Tucker and let him go somewhere he can get minutes

As much as we like to talk about the inability of Kerr and Sarver. They finally got a trade done.
Trading away the Suns dignity for cash.

Re: 2009-10 PHX Suns starting lineup
I would much rather have Wilcox than Frye. Then trade Sasha's contract with Tucker for Marion... A lineup of:
Nash/Goran
Richardson/Barbosa
Marion/Dudley/Clark
Amare/Lou/Clark
Wilcox/Lopez/Amare
and then run like HELL!!!!!

We are not, this is all wishfull thinking. I have come to the realization that we are going to suck until Sarver decides to fire his pal Kerr. I don't have any confidance in Kerr right now.

Ok. What about two of the Pacers starters:
Murphy and Ford for Amare.
Ford backs up Steve and you could let Nash walk.
Murph is a consistent double/double

Re: 2009-10 PHX Suns starting lineup
Anyone find it more disturbing that Amare would play the 5 this year? Doesn't that sound more like he'd go play the 5 else where? One of the reasons Amare didn't wanna go to GS was because he'd have to play C.

Re: 2009-10 PHX Suns starting lineup
^ha i thought the same thing...GS wouldn't have a starting C with Biedrins coming here...ick
I've never been so clueless or felt so munted about what the front office is up to
We're literally one '10 lottery pick away from being gutted and turned into an NBDL team...

Re: 2009-10 PHX Suns starting lineup
GS with STAT at the C would be a lethal SSOL team, but won't make noise in the playoffs even if they made it.
I seriously don't think Kerr has any long-term plans for the Suns other than cut payroll and see what moves other teams are making. With all the good moves other teams are making, it seems we are ALWAYS 3-4 steps behind. I mean damn, Spurs already solidified their 4 spot with the signing of Dice, and we're still over here deciding what to do with STAT and Nash. Make some moves that would make STAT and Nash want to stay FFS.

Re: 2009-10 PHX Suns starting lineup
If Amare plays 'center' i think were screwed. It's thought that a player's prime is supposed to be 24-30 but w/ all of his issues regarding the knee's and eye i don't think he can play better than he has. Also, he was successful at 'center' in the previous years because we a had Marion who could help him defensively... I just don't see Amare ever being a better player than he's been over the last few years

Well let's see. It was the best thing we ever had going for us and then we changed. I don't think Amare "injuries" will be a problem.

Re: 2009-10 PHX Suns starting lineup
I say we go small ball / SSOL ALL the way:
Amare / Frye / Lopez
Dudley / Lou
Hill / Clark
Richardson / Barbosa
Nash / Dragic
Pros:
Offense! This is a hell of a running team and when the defense is set, imagine Dudley drawing out the opposing PF to the 3pt line creating huge space for Amare and Nash to do the pick and roll or for Hill and Richardson to drive. If Dudley's man comes to help he would get a lot of open looks from the 3pt line.
Future: The two players getting older (Hill & Nash) will be gradually replaced by Dragic and Clark who have similar abilities and would benefit greatly from being brought up slowly. When Richardsons contract runs out we may be able to sign a major FA 2 guard (depending on how long Nash's extension will run we may have some real dough)
Cons:
Defense, obviously. With Nash and Richardson in the backcourt and Dudley and Amare trying to protect the paint we seem vulnerable from all sides (Dudley is a good defender but I am not sure how well he does against bigger guys posting him up). But maybe we can get some good help defense working... Still, I'm not sure if putting Frye/Lopez at C and Amare at PF would make for a better defense, and Dragic + Barbosa are bound to get alot of minutes providing decent defense at the backcourt.
EDIT: Rebounding would probably be horrible
But still, given the pieces we have I think this may be the best option we have.. In a year or two we could put Clark as starting PF and slide dudley over to SF, putting Hill (if he would be still around) on the bench.
