What about the Celtics being denied salary cap relief for the death of Reggie Lewis? Did Boston at that time not deserve it?

I guess this was a case of too little, too late. The damage was done...

Not sure why this continues to be brought up. Any league will take steps over time to correct loopholes in their rules, and they can't just randomly make stuff up on the fly. Yes it sucked that the Celtics lost out because there wasn't a provision, but surely you don't want the same precident to be applied forever and ever just so everyone is as slighted as the Celtics were 15 years ago and counting.

Yeah, but it ALWAYS seems to be the C's that end up getting SCREWED before they decide to change rules...Ahem----SIX PLAYERS ON THE COURT--!!!!

Well Max that exception wasn't in the CBA at the time of Reggie's death, but I do agree it shouldn't have counted against the C's cap at the time.

Yes, it's a real shame we lost the championship because there were 6 players on the court for a few seconds in a regular season game. Celtics screwed again, another Stern attempt to ensure a Lakers/Cavs final. One of darkest moments in Celtics history. It'll probably take the Celtics a decade to recover.

Seriously, if you did anything except laugh at an NBA coaching staff so stupid they couldn't count to 5, you're taking things far too seriously.

Reggie Lewis died like 3 CBA's ago. The salary cap was in its infancy and the Celtics did not have to pay his contract they chose to and because they did his salary stayed on the books. This is a rule not something made up for the Rockets. This is about competitive balance why have a team start the season with little chance to compete but a pay roll of a championship contender, it is bad business? The injury has to be signed off on by the league doctors in the offseason for it to count for this season if it happens after NOV and it is either career or a two year thing then the next offseason they get the exception.
